mitch
get the new one today
herefishiefishie
That will help. The more room the more comfy they will be. Or the other way is to create as little caves as possibly. Works, but can make tank look bare. Frenchy
mitch
they are all in the new tank, now we will see if they are going to spend some time out in the open
ryanjury
Sometimes adding some dither fish can help.. what fish you got in there?
mitch
going by my book.. 2 Auratus (melanochromis auratus) 3 Caeruleus (labidochromis caerules) I think we call it a electric yellow 7 Zebra (metriaclima zebra)
ryanjury
If your still having trouble you could add some dither fish, rainbows are good, but you could get away with tiger or gold barbs (that is my guess I haven't tried them) but have put rainbows in there and they do well. herefishiefishie
What types of zebras are they? The word zebra is a very loose term. It covers a few genus. Pseudotropheus, Metriclima, Melanochromis, Cynotilapia ..... Frenchy
mitch
metriaclima
herefishiefishie
What I meant was zebra is a term for hybrid mbuna. lfs & wholesalers use that name for those they don't know the name of or are mixed mbuna. They then call them P. zebra, M.zebra etc. M.zebra, if true, come with a variant or location. Frenchy
mitch
sorry when i got them i was told they were blue zebras. The older ones look like the one in the book metriaclima zebra and then zebra under that. They like breeding The yellow ones caeruleus; blue-white labido as you see i have not been doing this long
jim r
Malawis tend not to hide for more than a minute or two so you should be able to view them freely.
ryanjury
Ive had quite a few issues with them hiding in many of the tanks ive had, most often it is fixed by adding more fish or more confident fish sometimes they get better as they settle in, it really sucks because it only takes one fish to get a fright and they all bugger off! ryanjury
Awesome thats good to hear I have trouble with my peacocks that I try and breed from although theres like 6 of them in each tank they just hide, have started to stick my other grow out peacocks in the same tank with breeders to give them enough confidence to come out so I can actually see them. herefishiefishie
Cool, hope it goes well. Give them a week or 2 to settle. If you feed them the same time every day will help. Gets them into a routine. I turn lights on, walk away give them 1/2 hour, then go back for feeding. You could add a few more yellows too.
