JRoss
I've just noticed that one of my Ruby Barbs seems to have a little chunk out of her tail... suspiciously about what you'd expect to be fish "bite size"! She still eating and swimming, although a bit more anti-social than usual. She looks fine, but just wondering if anyone knows if this is normal and whether it could affect her in the long term? Ianab
What else do you have in the tank? Some fish will nip a lot more than others. Unusual for anything to catch a barb though, they are usually quick enough to get away. Yes it should heal as long as water conditions are good and it doesn't keep getting nipped. JRoss
The fish is the runt of the litter, so to speak - the smallest in the tank. There are 4 other barbs (Rosy and Ruby) and 4 borneo suckers. Perhaps I'll do more water changes than usual for the next couple weeks then. michael.qian
Or maybe put him in a seperate tank for a little while until it heals. Should be ok though they normally heal by themselves, had a neon tetra lose an whole eye a few days ago, seems to be doing fine.
Caryl
Bet it was one of the other barbs. It should be fine. Just keep an eye out for secondary fungal infection (would may go fluffy round the edges). If this happens, isolate fish and treat with an antifungal med.
