cichlid7
Hi I just got a pair of angels and wanted to know what would be the best size tank to breed them in and what to put in the tank. Thanks
smidey
i guess any temporary tank would be ok for breeding over two foot. they like to lay on smooth verticle surfaces near the top of the tank. mine lay on the filter power head & any leaves of plants that are near the surface. i have seen pics of breeders that hang slate from the hood then remove them away from the parents. mine always eat their eggs on the second day. ryanjury
You could do it in that tank, give them a go on their own a few times first they are sometimes bad parents, you can add some meth blue to help them with fungus Good luck. alanmin4304
I used to breed them in 12gallon tanks (24x12x12inch in the old currency) Add one pair plus water plus slate near the surface and feed lots of live food then buy heaps of more tanks to raise the fry as they will spawn every couple of weeks if you remove the eggs. Loopy
Yeah note what alanmin said about the slate near the surface. That is important. Angels like to lay up high on anything smooth. If they don't think they have anywhere to lay they will lay on the glass like my latest pair did the other day. Water changes are great for getting them going too. once they start spawning though have fun turning them off.

alanmin4304
I made up slates 100mm square with stainless steel hooks then used to remove the eggs and hatch them in 150 x150mm tanks until they had their first feed then move them to bare larger tanks for growing out. Lots of water changes and live food works wonders.
