Jasmine
I've decided I'd like to import some CT Siamese Fighters. How easy is it to do this? I've been told it's quite possible to do so. If so, what kinda colours do you think we need? I'll definitely be getting whites!
coelacanth
um.. best if you talk to your nearest pet shop that has quarantine facilities for importing fish. Its a bit difficult and pricy (to say the least!) doing it by yourself
Jasmine
I've been told most of the people have a transhipper or something they get in contact with? And would cost between $20 - $150 for shipping. I can afford that if it gets some decent CT quality into the country!
coelacanth
that doesn't sound right. Any fish-importers out there who can tell us the story?
Jasmine
Obviously excluding the fish. LOL. But would like to know further info.
Alan
See your LFS and askif you can have the address of Aquarius Imports, Auck., or Hi Way Fisheries, Te Puke. Both could probably get them in for you with their own imports, Show Qual., but they would cost a premium tho to buy from the exporter. Prolly have to do a money up front too. Adrienne
Jasmine, if you find someone I'd be willing to go in with you and split the costs. Anything for some great males and I'd love to get a really decent female in. I've actually got no idea what a true female ct should look like, I've got some I think are pretty good but they are ones I bred myself last year and are starting to age a bit. Jasmine
Sure no prob That'd be great, because the more fish in, the cheaper it'll work out to be. I'm thinking of getting more females than males...can seem to find CT males in shops but not females. So prob be looking at one male (definitely white!), and a few females of varying colours for myself.
Adrienne
Excellent, as I said I've never seen one in a shop yet in Auckland. I gather that they don't import females but not sure why not.
evilknieval69
I have been to highway fisheries just out of town here (an importer) and have seen their setup. They literally had thousands of fighters there, all in seperate tanks (the males) and all different varietys and colours. I didnt pay any attention to the types of bettas they were, but im sure if you got hold of them, and got on their good side (and prepared to pay cash up front!) they would consider getting some nice bettas in with their next order. Jasmine
Yeah, and the range of colours we have here is also quite shocking. Red and blue it seems, with maybe one or two marbles thrown in! I'm breeding my new CT with a borrowed VT female. So going pick out ones with best crowning to breed F2, and give the rest away probably. http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1181574943 is one CT female I love! Along with this one http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1181613673

Adrienne
Have a look at my pics in the anabantoids section under 'show us some pics' and tell me what you think of the male I have and the first two females. The black green one is the one I crossed him with and this is the only spawn I got from him, since then he's eaten the eggs. I'm going to spend the next few months working on getting another spawn and see what happens.
