eben
I've seen plenty of threads on how to Make Styrofoam backgrounds and caves. It does how ever appear that you have to silicon the end result to the tank. I've got a 540L 6' tank that I'm considering doing this for. I do have a couple of issues though. The tank is fully populated with fish (considering that we are attached to 99% of them we do not want to get rid of them). If I ever decided to get rid of the background and caves would I be able to do so without damaging the tank? Any idea appreciated.

eben
glue sucktion cups to it, then just stick it on Have you done this successfully? I was considering this but would the buoyancy not be too great for the suction cups to hold down?
davidb
if its a tight fit you could just jam it in?

No but on my travels through the internet i have seen it done. I have other things stuck on with them, and i cant pull them off lol, so i'm guessing its not an issue
Barrie
if you do decide to silicone them, use a hobby razor blade, the type with the stiff back on one edge. There are silicone cleaners that will disolve silicone but I would not use them (I dont even stock them) as if some is spilt or even the fumes can start to desolve the joint on your tank.; Hobby shops will often stock the blades I mentioned
