Nicks
Hi Guys, Has anyone aver seen the above Rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis ) in NZ either commertially or through the shops for rearing marine fry. Rotifers and algal cultures are used extensively in marine aqua culture for species that cannot take newly hatched brine shrimp. Not sure MAF would let me import. Any body have any ideas or contacts in the trade I could try Thanks Nicks [email protected]
Alan
you could make enquiries to Greg Leveridge of Tauranga. He has rotifers for his sea-horse breeding establishment. Wether he would share or not is a different matter. He got his cultures from the harbour and sorted them under a microscope. No I can't tell you his addy or phone #, I don't know them. He is the only one in NZ that is breeding the tropical seahorses, KUDA spp. Also exporting to the States and Canada, and making a good living out of them, thanks very much.
