HaNs
In my large tank the water is a brownish....its been like this since i set it up. I used store brought bacteria in the bottle and followed the instructions and first put tetras in the tank before big fish. I have tried using accuclear twice, 2nd dose 24hrs later. Im running a eheim 2213 filter. I have some algae rid from petmaster here but dont know how old it is. All my water perameters are fine. What could be causing it? dirty substrate? i vac it every week. Tanks been set up for about 2mths
TM
Do you have any wood in the tank? If so the wood could be leaching tannins, if this is the case it will go away. Accuclear is really only any good if there are larger particles in the tank as it forces them to clump together and sink to the bottom. Most of the time filter wool will do the same sort of thing. HaNs
some people swear by activated carbon n the filter to clear tank that was one of my next options, will try when i get my new o rings for my filter or when i get my fluval fx5 8)
snookie
eheim 2213 filter (internal) ? you can buy carbonsponge inserts your lfs can order from brooklands
Jo1
Try Biochem Zorb in your filter - it works much better than carbon and I guarantee the water will be crystal clear the next day. Eheim 2214 is an external cannister filter.
HummingBird
Biochem Zorb also absorbs Ammonia and Nitrites though, doesn't it? Which would deprive the beneficial bacteria in the tank of nutrients and thereby disrupt the cycle.
HaNs
Im going to try taking the wood out next water change and see what happens. And ill prob get a Fluval fx5 soonish for super filtration.
SpidersWeb
Might pay to ask around about the FX5. I've heard people having trouble with them, but I'm not certain on the details.
