Afrikan
I am pretty sure there was a discussion on the Demasoni striping a while back on the cichlid forum, but didn't quite follow it at the time.. Frenchy might have a more of an idea about it. I have seen nicely striped Demasoni but there are a mixed lot that have been imported it seems. I have found I have two females that have thrown ones with different striping. I just recently noticed this, however the females have nice straight lines, so do the males. Ryan and I were only just recently talking about this also. My question also is.. will "mis marked" still breed nice straight lines if they have come from good parents? herefishiefishie
I haven't seen one like that before. It is not unusual for them to have smudged bars & the like. There are plenty like that in the Lake itself, from what I have read. Straight barred demasoni can throw smudged bar fry, vice versa. The top one in this pic is what I meant by smudge etc.. Are all the demasonis bars like that though Johannes? {New ones that is} As long as their body shape is the same as the others that you have, nothing much to worry about. People are a fussy bunch though, we expect all our demasoni to be perfect, straight bars..... truth is in the wild they are not. The zig zag's I haven't seen before though.
