HummingBird
So they can fit in and no bigger...they love to cram themselves into tight places.
Faran
General rule of thumb is body width plus one pectoral fin, but my males seem to enjoy barely being able to fit in. Females don't like to be cramped too much tho.
caserole
That’s an interesting question you ask SilverBlade86. There is a technical answer. Although common B/N and GBA's will breed in the open they do prefer to breed in a closed cave with a small entrance. I successfully breed adult common, adult GBA and 2/3 grown albino B/N in upside down 11cm - 15cm terracotta pots. The trick is the hole chipped (with a pair of pliers) in the lid of the pot. It should be large enough to fit your breeder male ( as Blue and Kim said ) and no more, the idea is the male will be able to block access to the inside of the cave with his body. So the size of the entrance depends on the size of your fish. These are the measurement of the entrances that works with my fish 2/3 albino 3.5 cm wide - 1.5cm high Adult common B/N 4cm wide - 1.5cm high " GBA 4.5cm wide - 2cm high Here's a pic to give you an idea of what I’m talking about but not all of the caves is a nice as this - some are more rectangle in shape. SilverBlade86
So basically a bottle shaped cave would be ideal? Small entrance big lounge? Well not really bottle shaped but you get what I mean.
caserole
You can use bamboo as well, the cave what ever you use should be closed at 1 end.
SilverBlade86
Will do. I'll go check for some pots tomorrow. On a side note, I just bought 6 Tiger Barbs and 3 White/Black Angels. All of them are around 1.5cm to 2cm. What are the odds of the 3 Angels being a pair?
caserole
Your chances are not that good really. It is recommended to buy between 8 and 10 for a 99% chance of at least 1 pair. In saying that you never know, if you can once the Angels have doubled in size ( feed them well it wont take long ) post side on pic's for sexing. Good luck
SilverBlade86
Thanks, I wasnt really looking for a pair when I purchased them. I highly doubt the Angels will be able to breed in a community tank anyways. I'll post pics in a few months and see how it goes. Thanks.
