penguinleo
I managed to get a pair of Red tailed dwarf Cichlids (one of the 3 new types of dwarfs to come in a while ago). I put them in my 200L community and they spawned. I was lucky to get some fry as well. But the female moved all the fry out into the open. I was afraid that my other fish would eat the fry. I moved the fry to a spare bare tank and now they unfortunately are dieing. They were wiggling a lot before but now they don't seem to be that great. Could this be because they have so young? The fry don't even have eyes yet. Hopefully they will spawn again very soon.

caserole
Hi penguinleo Sorry I did mean to respond to your post earlier. Yes Apisto fry don't move well, I get away with it sometimes but that is because of the system I run. I also find even if you move them once free swimming they do not grow as well as the fry that remain with the mother. If you are wanting to breed them It would be best if they had there own tank. Good luck for next time.
penguinleo
Hi Caserole and Johannes, I actually did get some fry. Now they are free swimming. Here is what I did. When I first moved them I got around 30 fry still with their egg yolks. Eventually all of them died. But lucky for me, the female managed to save around 12 fry from being siphoned. After seeing this, I left them for a while until they were free swimming (funny that the torpedo barbs didn't spot them) and a few days later I moved the fry into a spare tank. But I also moved the mother with the fry. And strangely enough, she is doing well with them. I spotted 2 or 3 fry dead today but I think that was because I couldn't feed them for 4 days after they finished their yolks. (I tried brine shrimp but they were too big, so I had to wait until liquifry came). I will get some photos up soon and do you think that liquifry 2 will be okay to feed instead of liquifry1? The only difference I see is that there is added spinach in the no. 2. Thanks
caserole
Thats strange they should be able to eat BBS as soon as they are free swimming. What about trying it now there a little older? You may like to get some microworms as well, the liquid in a culture contains the baby worms that can be used next time. No matter how hard you try I always find some fry escape the siphon.
penguinleo
Here are some bad quality photos (hardly seeable) of the fry. Only like 3 made it. However they are growing very quickly. Just feeding them brine shrimp for food and performing weekly water changes. And the parents
