Whiskas
We had at work a frog and 2 tadpoles. The frog was doing really well and then yesterday he died He was in the container which contained sawdust and mealworms (bought from petshop) and he was covered all over with sawdust, is this what killed him? We were rather sad to see him go as he was way cute!! We would love to know if him being covered in sawdust is wat killed him so we dont make that mistake again! Just to clarify this container was in a tank which contained water and rocks. We now only have 1 tadpole left as the other got extremely thin and had a large bump on his side, so euthanised him. davidb
don't think he woulda been killed by the "sawdust" (thats bran by the way- food for the mealworms)... more likely died of gluttony... what many people don't realise is how little frogs need to eat. I feed my small tree frogs which are less than 1cm each 1 or 2 flies a week, while my large green frogs which are 7-9 cm each eat one adult locust each per week.... If you feed frogs too much they will get fat and possibly die.... how big were the mealworms... Also is there a possibility he might have been stuck in the container or does it have a completley open top?

Whiskas
The container was completely open, he used to jump in and out all the time. He was only a small green frog about 3cm long and possibly we overfed him! He had a fly a day plus the container of mealworms (the mealworms were quite large mayb 4cm. Now i think about it it kinda stupid to be feeding the frog something that is bigger than him) was always in his tank so who knows how many of those he had!! Now I know how little they need to eat I won't b feeding the next frog that much!! Will they just eat themselves to death!? How bizarre. whetu
Sorry to hear about the loss of your froggy, whiskas I've heard that the most common cause of death for frogs is fungus. Is it possible the bran in the container got damp and mouldy? Sometimes with a small frog and lots of food, the owner is tempted to leave the food container in there for much longer than usual and everything can turn pretty yukky very fast. Good luck with the little tadpole, hope it grows up big & strong
