ryanjury
I dont know what they are ive tried to figure it out.. The last lot that came in the males did go blue even though they were golden johanni, but the males didn't have nice blue lines on them they had broken sort of like black criss crosses on them not like any johanni ive ever seen. ryanjury
ive looked through all of this http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/r ... ?genus=122 most the Melanochromis species out there and none of them appear to have golden males and females, id go for juvvie's or johanni or interuptus or something random that the importers had lying around.. ryanjury
Ive got plenty of female fish that hold eggs with egg spots and all the experts on the net etc say never to go on egg spots alone, even egg spots and dominance could just be a dominant female with no males in the tank.. Gannet
hmm they are still small, do you think i should set up a grow out tank for them>?
ryanjury
Depends on how big they are and what fish you want to put with them. I almost got some of the last lot that came in but after not finding any info and seeing what they grow into it all appeared a bit shady for me so just got johanni of someone who was breeding descent ones... Gannet
they would just be going into my disply tankonce they are big enough to look after them selves against my zebras and yelow labs etc
ryanjury
Sweet as then unless your fish are monsters they should be fine in there from 2-3cm ive got 2cm yellows in with big bumblebees and a big kadango male and they dont even bother trying to eat them.. Afrikan
I wouldn't be purchasing anything that has come on the lists recently as Johanni, I have seen females come in with horrific vertical banding, not good quality at all :-? :-? I wouldn't want to risk the fact that they maybe something else or hybrid of some sort.. bit worrisome....
ryanjury
Yeah exactly why i didn't get any and got some off someone who had some awesome ones (when they didn't send the wrong fish )
