SpidersWeb
Most common way is to have the tank heights offset, with the top tanks having overflows and plumbed in to the next below. Sucks from the bottom tank and delivers to the top tank. In all honesty, probably easier to just get individual internal filters for each tank. alanmin4304
It is also an ideal way to spread any disease or algae problem to all tanks. Also the chemistry and temperature become about the same.
alextret
have two tanks with a single filter, syphoned through. Very easy to set up, if suitable tubes are available. One of them holds guppy females, and another - guppy fry, so the uniformity in temperature etc. is desirable.
suphew
Also a good way to cause a flood if your plumbing blocks somewhere. Also cannister filter pumps are no good at pumping to a head. A better idea would be to have a sump fed from different tanks and the filter running on the sump, althrough if your going to have a sump set up a trickle filter it would be far cheaper and better. Add a UV if your worried about disease. As far as I have sen this is pretty much how the tanks at animates in wellington were setup when they had the central room thingy
