tank update

hey all just a few quick questions- I know it is 3 am but it is new years day so forgive me

I have set up the tank to check for leaks with freshwater. I have also removed the two white t8's and i am left with one marine blue. I now have enough space to chop a hole in the lid of the tank and add a 250w leica mh if i end up getting one of crackers. I still need a skimmer but once I have put saltwater in the tank I can start filling it with base rock, sand and live rock because I already have a heater sorted. just a quick question- if I have rock sitting in my tank for 2 months does it become live rock or do I need some live and some base rock to begin with... I am gonna get a seio powerhead I think, or perhaps a nanostream, I already have a 402 in the tank.

Well thanks in advance for answering my queries... I was also wondering about fish stocking- I would like an angel or some other quite large fish as a 'feature fish" Are there any angels or similar which don't cost a fortune and which are quite commonly available which wouldn't feel claustrophobic in my tank? my tank is 920l by 600h by 400 deep. Other fish I am interested in are six-line wrasses, some blue chromis(maybe 3) and 2 perc clowns with an anenome for them. Would all these fish be compatible? am I overstocked? I could get rid of the wrasse if need be...

thanks for your help guys It is much appreciated

The reading on angels is depressing. I always wanted to have a beautiful angel in a reef tank but it just seems to be a too bigger risk

I think that there are always risks with these sorts of fish, but whether a one actually eats your coral depends on the traits of that specific fish. I have a Blue Face, Majestic, Koran, and Swallow Tail in my reef tank (SPS dominant with a handful of LPS, but no clams) and no problems at all. That being said, I have previously had pigmy angels (flame, coral beauty, etc...) and they went mad over the SPS polyps.

It is definitely a risk and they may develop the taste for your prize corals at any time. However, I think that they are so beautiful that I decided that it was worth the risk. Like I said, so far I've been lucky.
