davidb
hey I am looking at setting up a 38 L planted tank with a few neons and was just wondering which plants people suggest??? So far I have a 55watt heater and one of those jebo clip on lights. what can I do about filtration in a tank this size? is it best to not worry about filtration and just do large water changes? I have got a bit of java fern and java moss wich I was hoping to use... what do you guys think about using it in a tank this size? Thanks for your help

purplecatfish
My favorite choices for small tanks are: Glosso, Anubias nana, and some of the smaller crypts . Keep these thoughts in mind when planning and doing your research: Try not to cram in too many varieties. That would cause the aquascape to look too busy. Choose 1 specimen or a group of three, avoid using a pair or a group of four. Start with your hardscape: either rock, driftwood or ornament will form the bones for the softscape. Check out plantgeek.net 8) Most important: get lots of advice, then ignore it and do what you feel is right.
davidb
I am getting some glosso and I want some riccia. would Java ferns be ok with glosso and riccia in a 38 L tank or would it grow to big( given that I need more light and CO2 for the riccia and riccia
penguinleo
Here is one of my 38 litre tanks. Just to give you some ideas. I have tried Ricca in my other 38L tank but sometimes it can get messy since it floats up everywhere and possibly clog filters. If you are planning to keep it floating then it might make the plants underneath suffer since some plants need stonger light. By the way, you do not need CO2 with Ricca unless you are wanting small bubbles forming on the plant and making it in perfect condition. CO2 will make the Ricca grow much quicker too so you might have a small problem with too much of it! Good luck!
