SpidersWeb
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Ok, so a few months ago I bought two baby angels, koi with lots of yellow and a nice marble pattern, they paired up, so we gave them a tank of their own. They've been in there with 3 Festivium Cichlids for 1 night. I was just feeding bloodworms and noticed the angels weren't interested, then on closer inspection they were fanning eggs!!! wooooo!!!!!! Helen is an hour from finishing work, and I just had to tell somebody woooooooooo!!! I'm suprised because it has a shell substrate, the pH is like 7.8. SpidersWeb
Stoked they didn't do it on the heater or filter. Guess I'll have to remove the Festiviums again poor dudes, this tank was actually for them Only put the kois in there because I needed to shift my crazy violent angel out from with the oscars and in with the firemouths, and crazy violent wild-strain angel + delicate kois = no tails. Oh and pretty sure daddy has one dose veiltail, being both koi marble, I'm hoping for some sexy offspring 8)

SpidersWeb
well done jono. Angels are cool fish. hope you get some nice offspring But the colour of those angels....  (i dont like koi angels, dont mind me) lol I think they're fantastic, I like Koi Marble a lot more than blushing or standard koi. I've also got a blushing koi, black koi and golden koi and double-black veiltail downstairs. The double-black is amazingly owner responsive and hassle free (wouldn't hurt a fly). I've only got one wild-strain, and he's one seriously vicious fish compared. I've seen him chase my male adult severum. Just fished out the Festiviums and half-dosed blue meth. Angels are not pleased, but I dont want fungus and those Festiviums are some seriously cheeky fish, and were getting too close to the eggs. Fingers crossed. SpidersWeb
aww these two suck as parents Amusing though. They're in the office, so when I'm on the computer and turn around I can spot them, they're always just hovering around the tank, I walk over next to the eggs and the female is like 'oh yeah that' swims over has a look and fans them, but after that 'meh not interested'. 2 of the eggs have gone white, and they haven't removed them either. When I come up to the tank they're more excited about food than worried about the eggs lol (unless I stare at them) Got meth blue in the tank, and there is about 800L/hr circ (150L tank), so fingers crossed. I know cichlids take a couple of goes to get it right but I really really want to raise something that isnt a platy. Going to put together a few more brine shrimp hatcheries. Have read I should feed them freshly hatched bbs twice daily. Will have to get a microworm culture and whiteworm culture one of these days. Devon
Can I see a shark ADV 600/800 in your pic?
SpidersWeb
ADV 800 in both corners of the tank (both are on-loan) I have an ADV400 in my planted tank too I used to have them when I was a teenager, but they were called the Shark I, Shark II and Shark III then and these new magnetic clip things are nifty. fishy_t
Well done with the eggs but like you said it does sound like they will need a few trys to get it right! How are the festives btw?!
SpidersWeb
Yeah 95% of the eggs have gone white now Was it the angels? Was it the meth blue? Was there not enough air in the water? Was it the high pH? was it the raised temp during the day? lots of questions Festives are good, they're temporarily hanging out with the Firemouths, eating well and the male is all coloured up, has a nice yellow tinge on his fins. Diet is mostly bloodworms at the moment, I need to remember to feed more flake as a staple diet tho.
