Hi all,

(Hood filter, spraybar>filterwool>thru box containing bio rings>feeds back into tank)

can anyone confirm for me the correct way the "boxes" are placed in, is the water level supposed to get very high in them & submerge the bio rings or just cover the bottom of the rings? If i put my filter box up one way the water level does not rise, if I put it in the other way the water level in the box gets quite high & almost overflows but at same time submerges the bio rings. It has worked for 8 months or so with the level not riisng much but i suspect this is the wrong way.

I've got a Jebo R338

It works the same way (with the spraybar, and an overflow etc). Water is sprayed on to filter wool, then drips on to the bio-rings, then drops in to the tank.

The filter foam is only wet were the water runs through it, it is not fully submersed, if it is fully submersed the water spills in to the overflow. The bio-rings ARE submersed, but only a single layers worth. The water height in the filter box is about 10mm.

Hope thats of some help? I would go with the 'one way' rather than the 'other way' in your option choices.
