Clam question???

My clam has been going down hill lately.

But I also noticed something unusual about it.

The whole time I have had the clam it has had a medium sized tube worm like thing attacted to it. This thing has now gone... in fact it left when the clam started to look not so good.

Could this be a related problem or a parasite. It never bugged the clam before.. Maybe he went well im off to find a new home.

Cheers

Calcium 440

KH 10-11

Mag approx 900-1000

Strotium added, and iodine, and reef roids.

PH sits around 8.0

Salt about 1.025

Water temp 25 degrees

On a rock base, to keep bristle worms away.

Under the halide

Low-medium current

Any other advice as I just don't have any more myself.

Strotium added, and iodine

You shouldn't add anything you cant test for, they can both be poison if the level gets too high. Plus as I understand it there is no proof that corals 'need' strotium or iodine, in the wild they do have small amounts in them but this could be just because it's in the water, not because it does anything for them

Sometimes it is hard to find what it is, is it getting enough light?

what is your nitrate levels? low nitrate can cause problems? have read that you have to add sodium nitrate if levels are to low.

i really doubt magnesium has anything to do with it? 900 ppm is low but wont cause your clams to die

you can test for both of these.

nitrate about 20 ppm (can't get it lower, doesn't really get any higher now though.

I just add some strotium and Iodine in small levels to keep some trace elements.

Will increase the mag a little.

The clam sits just off to the side of a 150watt metal halide, about 50cms of water between the clam and light.

Usually I give the tank water changes twice a week, thats about 25%.

Maybe the problems came awhile ago. and this is just the bulid up of a long time of not having the right conditions.

Thing is everything else in my tank is as happy as
