tel
my LTA has been sad for about a week. it extends and retreats at weird times not related to the light as per normal, and of recent days has stayed out of sight with shrivelled tenticales and a very 'slack' appearance to the body. is this normal? also when a anemone dies or becomes terminal does it detach from its rock? thanks
shaneo
My purple LTA did that for a long time, I just kept water parametres normal, weekly WC of 25%, increased flow and tried feeding it daily real small bits of fish. It would only eat maybe 20 % of what I offered it but after a few months it came back, real slowly though! It was lookin real bad, not attaching to rocks and lookin real slack. Now its back to how it was but has green tips now :-?

skippy
Had one that was quite similar. Was quite small when I got it and it got a bit too much lovin' from mum clown (who is quite big). To give it a chance I moved it as far away from the clowns home base and into more light. I figured it would peg out when we were in Fiji so put it the refugium to die in peace. Still alive when we got back so put it back in the main tank and gave it a chunk of pilchard It is now about 5 times the size and has nice extension with some of the bubble tips pretty big. It now gets regular feeds of pillie and can easily put up with mum clowns lovin. It could also be that I have changed my lights and the tank now has nearly 4 times the light it had previously. Really pleased with its progress as all the other anenomes I've had didn't last very long.
puttputt
good news Skippy, how are the lights going, haven't heard much from you.
skippy
Hey Puttputt Lights are awesome. Took about a month to eventually get them up and running as the work sparkie was pretty busy. They seem to be making a serious difference to the life in the tank. Have not had anything freak out too badly, and everything that did has recovered. When are you next heading up? Sorry tel, didn't meaning to piggy back on your thread
puttputt
Soon Skippy, house goes on the market next month. Will be coming up late this month for Brothers 40th, so will let you know when, see if you want any goodies brought up.
skippy
Cool, be good to catch up again. Will be coming down for a weekend sometime in the school holidays so will probably get anything I need then. Got an awesome red mushie rock from Jansens last time I was down a few weeks back (together with some other stuff). Managed to beat you Aucklanders to the new shipment for once
