Hey can one of the artic blue lights be replaced with a T5 fitting and ballist??

Has anyone tried this before?

Should be very simply.should be enough space for 4t5s.. t5 ballast are very small compared to magnetic ballast. might be a good idea to get a fan also build in to keep them cooler as they will shut down if they overheat.

JDM I was hoping that this will give enough light to initate the morning and evening light, with a single T5, and having the halide as midday so to speak.

The question is it much better to have a T5 than a normal marine white tube which will fit in easy,

The question is how much a T5 will outperform a marine white (2 foot in length)??

a single t5 2 foot will be no where near as bright as your halide, reall only for supplement light, i have a tank set up with 4 2 foot t5s and there goo but still not as bright as a single 150w mh.

so are you thinking of shortning the photo period of the 150w mh?

a 2 foot t5 is not 54w, it is 24w as apposed to 18w for standard 2 foot.

why not just add a t5 ballast and waterproof holders, mount it to the top of the tank with a good reflector over it, keep the fitting standard.

if you remove the blue you have taken 18w out if you then go to the trouble of changing to t5, you will refit a 24w tube, giving you a gain of 6w, not really worth the cost in my opnion.
