poorly fish

Just done a fish rescue today... lovely fancy goldfish were in a tank 15x8x8 and it was filthy ,no filter and an air pump infrequently swithched on...

Put them in my 24x12x15. they seem to be struggling to swim, but seem to be loving the freedom of movement they now have..

But.. It looks like they have a fungal infection, red streaks in their fins look like a bacterial infection and the difficulty in swimming suggests a swim bladder problem...

Is there any hope? or was International Fish Rescue(me) too late....

Treat the infections with appropriate meds (these vary from country to country) and hopefully the swim bladder problem will right itself in the process. They will be very stressed out, even though they are now in better accommodation.

Good on International Fish Rescue for helping them! :hail:

Thanks Caryl.

I`ve had to turn off the filter, it was a real battle for them, they`re not wobbling now. I know it will have to be turned back on, but for now i think it best not to have them struggling to fight the current...will see if i can find a cheap small filter...

Just want them to stay upright..

well, what a palaver working out how to use this darn medication...no clear concise instructions at all..the more i looked the more baffled i became...i even went on the website...advice? buy the book..huh :(

It`s been decided that it`s a once a week treatment, but no idea when to end treatment, so, when i`ve finished the bottle, i`ll see what happens..

Anyone else had problems..darn interpet...grr, just hope the meds work...
