Renewal of the Resource Consent To Take Water from Waikanae River for Public Supply Purposes

Notice of Meeting - Update on Investigations on the Waikanae River

As you will be aware, Kapiti Coast District Council are undertaking investigations and monitoring on the Waikanae River which will lead to an application to renew the resource consent to take water from the Waikanae River for public supply and, (related to the water take), to discharge treated and untreated water into the Waikanae River through a stormwater drain.

I wrote to you on 31 July with an update of this project, and provided copies of the final methodology for the investigations being undertaken, and the report on the River Recharge proposal.

Other work has been completed since the public meeting in April 2003, including the ecological investigations and the IFIM survey.

You are invited to a meeting where the ecological and IFIM investigations will be presented and Opus International Consultants, who are managing the investigations and monitoring on behalf of Council, will be available to answer any questions and receive any feedback. An update on progress on the remaining investigations and monitoring will also be provided.

­The meeting will be held on Tuesday 16 September 2003, 7:00pm, in the Paraparaumu Library Meeting Room.
