    I.D. me

Buy a blue tang, that'll get rid of it! I had a rock covered in this stuff (looked quite effective actually) which my clarkii's used to sleep in (as it was right next to their anenome) but as soon as I got my blue tang and flame angel it's pretty much disappeared....actually come to think of it, anything that looked remotely like algae (including my hydnophora  ) has disappeared.

jeez those anenomes look massive!! Any idea what sort they are? What prices were on them?

    WCMM"s DOA

The courier companies usually state in their policies and stuff that they wont insure or be held responsible for damage to a whole heap of things including live fish. I learnt that one the hard way!!
  4. WOW.......so many different opinions!! I gave the fish a freshwater bath last night, he wasn't too happy about it but he looks much happier today, most of the spots have gone now and he looks heaps more lively. He is eating and swimming happily with all the other fish now so I don't think (HOPE) it doesn't get worse. I'll keep a close eye on him for the next couple of days and might do a small waterchange if I'm in doubt. Unforrtunately there is no way that I could get a shot of him to show you guys as he is REALLY skittish. Someone mentioned something about cleaner shrimps dealing to the parasites.....I have two skunk cleaners but they are always hiding and only ever come out at night to clean the corals but yet they will never touch the fish.....maybe they're retarded or something, but it definately is annoying cause I never get to see them and they certainly do let down there name!! Thanks heaps too all of those that have given me advice and I sure do appreciate it!! Reubs.
  5. I'll take a trip down to my local pet shop and see whether he can order it in for me....that could be easier!
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. As I live in Tauranga, it could be quite challenging trying to get stuff from Auckland. If I just leave him to overcome it by himself, is there any risk of any of my other fish getting it....cause I REALLY don't want that to happen.
  7. I think my Blue Tang has whitespot and I don't know what to do! I recently bought it from my LFS and it has been doing fine over the last two weeks, but about 2 nights ago I noticed that there were a few tiny white specks on one side of it, I thought it must have just been a few missing scales from an encounter with one of my clarkii's but now there are lots of these spots all over it. I have had quite a bit of experience with freshwater diseases but have never had any problems with my reef tank. What should I do??? Any help would be MUCHLY appreciated. Reubs.

    The Mount

When your heading towards the Mount, go to the Pilot Bay side and walk around the side of the Mount following the road until you come to a jeti, this is usually a good place to get water from. It helps if it is high tide otherwise the water is quite a bit lower than the jeti (like a meter lower).
  9. IMHO that isn't entirely true...some of the rockpools around The Mount here in Tauranga heat up to around 28C nearly every day in summer and then cool back down at night, so the critters living in there are pretty hardy. I kept a local marine tank for about 7 months and had seahorses, pipefish, blennies, gobies, anenomes, crabs, shrimps and some schooling surface fish and they lived perfectly happily together with no chiller or temperature control. Just my experience anyway........
