  1. had the kindy goldfish in the tank with some others and low and behold.. :( one has been eaten..

not sure how i am gona explain that to the kindy. :-? but all i found of the fish was the tail and the back bone.

it wasnt a small goildfish either. I also think that some of the small shubs have also been eaten as there doesnt seem to be that many in the tank as when i first put them in there. :-?

  2. The adult snakes are not as weird looking as the babies..

i have found the snakenecks have a great personality, but then again so do all our red ears..one diff i have noticed though, is that the reds chase food fast where as a fish can live with the snake necks and not be bothered at all.

we have only 3 male reds now as they were chatting the girls too much and got attacked..

  3. Hi B&K

    Levin has been rainy,fine,rainy..

We have one baby snakeneck unrelated though..

I reckon the snakes have more personalitly than the red ears.. mind u we have 21 reds..

We did have a big red in with the snakenecks but they picked on her. :( . so she went in with our other big red females..

I saw the adult snakes at the napier aquarium and got addicted..

  4. thanx guys for all yr advice and kind thoughts..

at the prices baby snakenecks r i cant afford to replace him and my partner has said NO WAY.

so the little guy is going to have to live out his days on his own..

we do have a large pair of snakenecks though..

hopefully she will lay eggs as he's a randy buga..

  5. . :( ..

We lost one of our baby snakenecks to the fluval 103 external filter.. :( ..

Any suggestions as to what type of filter to use particularly for babies??

We have 22 large terrapins.. including 2 adult snake necks and use large external filters..

were using internal but they were useless..

    cheers

  6. I want to buy a Silver Arowana.. but upon talking to the guy at Hutt Pets yesturday, he said that they dont live for years and years.. being about 3 -4 yrs and then they die for no reason.. :( ..

I said i was interested in BALDRICK their giant Gourami but i didnt have a tank big enough for him... (he had been sold 2 weeks earlier :) ).. My boys wanted to know where he was.. lol..

So after hearing about the Arowanas maybe not living for years and years, i asked if you can buy the Giants as Babies and YES.. I said COOL..

So we are going to buy a baby Giant Gourami.. will have a tank all set up for him or her..

Anyone know whether Arowanas have a short life??

    cheers

  7. :( it was i suspect the very nasty red tailed black shark..

i removed him into another tank.. then discovered the darn external filter leaking, so emptied everything..

moved tank, refilled it and heated water and the shark passed away.. :( ..

    i feel really cruel..

the convicts had to spend the nite in the bath with a heater and filter and the baby snakenecks..

thank gawd they are still swimming..

    my own fault.. :(

  8. In my sons tank are the following..

    2 kuhli loaches

    1 red tailed shark

    1 gourami

1 marbled catfish(u never see it)

    1 baby plecy

    1 fat veiltail

    1 fat blackmoor

    some shubunkins.

One of these bigger shubs has been attacked.. to the extend he is minus nearly all his scales.. :( ..

I dont know who the culprit is..

I have removed shub into smaller tank with guppies.. hope he doesnt die. :(
