  1. Man its been awhile since I visited this site. Anyway here are some picks. I'm a poor photo taker but anyways My bubble anemone garden. A green bubble, purple base green, rose with ruby tips x3 and green tenticle (just split), and the new yelloe tip orange rose) I also found these under a rock as I was feeling around... BOOM (for reference the fish was 45cm)
  2. It may take a few days to start skimming depending on skimmer. This is not uncommon. I remember trying mine out in freshwater when I first started in the hobby to test it and getting grumpy that it didn't bubble like the pictures.. Put it in the saltwater and bingo.

I don't think my camera can actually cope with the brightness of the striped blue but at least you get an idea. The little ones my corea, the 2 big blues and grey tear drops are maximas.
  4. I know you dont want to add anything but seachem ammonia guard on hand will save a crash or at least buy you time.
  5. Hi Ive had a few. I had one that only eat bloodworms out of my hand. Had him for 6 months as not enough nutrition and he died as bloodworms is better than nothing but lacks longterm food qualities for them. I had another for 4-5 years which ate everything from mussel on a feeding clip, to brine shrimp out of my hand. He taught my morish idol what to eat I kid you not it was quiet amazing. My current one of 6 months is eating fresh shrimp from countdown and ate crayfish the other day and east out of my hands. The reason for hand feeding is they don't eat fast enough to complete with tangs let alone any other fish. To get it start eating get live water fleas for freshwater fish (called diaphea or something similar), feed all fish hard then after 4-5 minutes add the water fleas the movement will stimulate feeding. After a week start adding adult brine shrimp that you may wish to start growing (baby brine shrimp are too small), then once the start eating the live brine shrimp feed defrosed Brine shrimp at the same time and they will work it out. It will learn you are trying to feed it. They are hard work to start but well worth it.
  6. yeah have something basic set-up in nelson then move the stock up. It will give you a couple of days to setup the beast. The other thing is ammonia guard by seachem is your moving friend
  7. I free dive/ spearfish. Tangs ave been shot in NZ waters (not by me), as well as cleanershrimp and coral baned shrimp. I've seen neon gobies.
  8. I do one or two frags. Don't reckon it would make a difference. The literal line disease can also cause human disease which can be hospitalization material. I may have the wrong disease but its the one that is most common in blue hippo tangs and causes them to go hearing gutted even though looking healthy. Rule is if you get a cut in your reef tank and it doesn't heal so you doctor.

I'm not 100% but think they like munching on leather corals yum...
  10. Hi guys whos using the brightwell products in their baling method for strontium and trace and iodine. I use 5 litre containers for mag, cal and KH what is the adding ratios for their traces that you use?? Cheers Ru
  11. That photos from when we first moved into the house a year ago. Notice the curtains where to short as its a 2.7 stud. Looks funny.
  12. Just an update. Here is my red base purple tenticle anemone with yellow tips. Took awhile for the clowns to host as they were rather ruff when I bought them and anemone kept trying to eat them. Its sting is instant blisters on contact. Like a wasp sting
  13. Ah since I couldn't sleep. Might as well post the pics. Uses a recirculating viaaqua 15watt 1,100ph pump. Holes have been redrilled as they were so small causing heaps of back pressure. A big thanks to Andrew for taking over the build as I hate....HATE plumbing.. Have put a mesh on the bottom of this tube below now and another on the intake so that it doesn't backflow and jam when the powers turned off. Look it even fits in my sump...
