lol i dunno if the water is any good i never check it but it does get some pretty good water changes...altho none this week sofar...more good news tho the cockatoo's i put in there a few days ago are breeding as well....must me somthing in teh water???
-
i am amazed at the breeding going on in my 2.5 foot tank, it is actually overstocked and that was made clear when the kribs spawned and drove the other fish to the opposite end of the tank...to make matters worse the apisto agassizi "double reds" i have spawned at that end shortly after and drove the other fish to the middle or in a mad dash from one end of the tank to the other as they got chased back and forth, but now worst of all (but a good thing ) my apisto njissenji have spawned as well pretty much in the middle of the tank and are getting in on the action as well.....i have added some some apisto cacatuoides and i am hoping to breed them as well... cheers i have pics on my comp that are damned awesome but i cannot figure how to get them on here if anyone has a clue pls give it to me
-

i have no idea why more people do not keep killies , they are some of the most pretty of freshwater fish are not hard to keep and pretty easy to breed sofar and from what i hear, the only thing is the lifespan wich can be pretty short (but then again so easy to breed) i reckon more people should get into killies not and be shy about keeping them

finally my sjd eggs have started hatching was getting worried there but all is good now , also my gold australes are spawning but i am not collecting eggs at the moment, my notho's (with the exception of the palms) are also laying like mad and i have a few bags of eggs, i am collecting golden wonder eggs at the mo and they are spawning pretty well , all in all a pretty good week sofar with almost everything going to plan

no not worth it i just saw the list and what used to be in nz and wondered why those species aint here anymore??....they are allowed in and used to be here and do not cost alot to buy oversea's....prob comes in with getting them in here all the extra costs add up and soon a fish that i could get for the cost of postage, end up costing me my left arm and right testicle, is there anyway we could get fish here cheaper?
-
dwarf cichlids duoble reds and rams and plecos
-
lol went there today and bought a few things myself andf after checking round a few other places after i found that i made an average saving of $215 now thats damn good in anyones book lol
-
i was never in buisness i was however in charge of that aspect of somone else's and they closed for totally unrelated issues and let me just clear somthing up for ya, i never made millions for anyone however ll the costs were covered with a very small ammount left to line the owners pockets. Sounds like you have a really awesome setup at your place would love to see it one day (lol if you have not taken offence at anything i have said) but aint your costs a little different from that of a store??...this is assuming that you are breeding/growing yurself....in a store you can get away with almost bare tanks that just hold stock for short periods of time till they are collected...there is not really alot of maintanance or feeding or as much cleaning and a host of other things, but i am not sure how you are doing things but whatever it is you are doing you must be doing well...was just thinking that whle the end result of product is the same the costs involved can be diferent???
-
hey reef of course they make alot of money on marines....i used to sell and i made a tidy profit and was stil cheaper than almost all the other stores....alot of stores put big markups on fish and the higher their cost the higher the cost the costomer pays...however you can you can still make decent money specially on marines withot such a big markup....i would quite often only make $20 or $30 on a fish that cost me over a $100....now the reason that was vaible is 1...because i was not being greedy ...2 and because they went out pretty much the day they came in my overheads were damn low, wich brings me to another point every single store and fish keeper has overheads ....the bigger the store the bigger the overheads, now if a little store or even just joe blogs on the corner can sell somthing cheap and make a couple bucks in the process so that they can keep on going good on em I would like to commend you tho on your offer to help anyone who needs it even if jansens gets rid of it's marines i think anyone who is really into fish should do whatever they can to help and educate others who need it or who are struggling.....it's the loss of that kinda attitude that would truly hurt the hobby as a whole and not some people with lower costs

Ok i will be fair and say that you are correct in that you cannot actually choose the exact fish, wich can be a pain but c'mon how often are people not happy?, if people were not happy they would not go back there would they... Also i have been there when he has been giving people advice and he does know his stuff and while you can get advice from pretty much all fish stores people with years of experiance in my opinion generally give better advice than some of the younger workers at some LFS(wich i have also experianced...) And as far as guaranteeing fish if somthing ever did happen all you would have to do is go and talk to him about and he will sort you out exactly the same as the other big stores..(wich is usually very satisfactory) And if he is udercutting other shops i say good on him....he is still making a profit and covering his overheads wich while not the same as some of the big places try and remember that in proportion his costs are pretty similair....so if he can do it good on him.....he does all of us hobbyists a favour in my opinion Now again to be fair the large shops like jansons and hollywood look fantastic and there dispays are great not many other shops come close and there selection is awesome, it is really great to see......i wonder how many people come in there just to look and treat it like a public aqurium tho??

I can really recommend patrick at the goldfish pagoda he is a hell of a nice guy....just do not get him started talking lol , he does not shut up at times lol.....but seriously a really nice guy....i do not think there is another shop that will give customers the same prices as him, he discounts EVERYTHING , his shop may not be the prettiest but as far as customer relations go he cannot be beat, just like hummingbird i use him for everything.....if he does not have somthing it takes a week to get it in and if they have it at another shop it is almost a sure thing that he can get it to.... well thats my plug for the week
