  1. I would love a new tank!! :bggrn: but unfortunately I'm living at home with my parents still and I dont really think they want an extra tank, we also have no space for on I could never give her away, she is my pet and one of my favourite fish, the only one with a name ha ha. How long untill the pearl gourami gets fully grown, I have had mine for 2 years now and she's roughly 10cm and hasn't seemed to grown any more I'm not sure what sex my 2 angels are as they were juveniles when I got them, the angels are the only ones in there tank plus a young brittle nose , i moved the gourami up with them as her feelers were being nipped by the barbs and she wasn't to happy about that what size can two angels be housed in, before I added fish I researched and it said it was fine to have 2 angels in a 50l tank sorry for all the questions, i just want to do the right thing
  2. I'm back from my weeks holiday and she has made a huge improvement! will leave her there until she has fully recovered once she is healthy again I'm really stuck what to do with her. I can't put her back with the angel fish and she cant go in with my barbs as they nip her feelers
  3. Hi I'm away tomorrow morning I have got my brother to look after here and set him up with what to do and everything so hope all goes well
  4. I know, 2 weeks is a long time for a sick fish I haven't been on this forum long and haven't joined the FNZAS or a club near me I live in Rural Christchurch
  5. Would moving her into a breeding box be ok, those plastic crates that float in the water or would this be far to stressful for her the salt is just plain aquarium salt, will hopefully buy some today and do small water changes frequently one problem is that I'm oh holiday for 1 week then back for a day then away again for another week so I wont be around look after her, hopefully she will do fine
  6. hi I'm not fully sure, but I am guessing as as far as I remember 1 month now
  7. hi, I had noticed that she had seemed a bit sulky for a while but didn't know why until I had a real close look when she was on the bottom of the tank will add some salt as at the moment that is all I have
  8. Hi I am really concerned about my adult pearl gourami. I know I need to do something real fast or else she/he wont make it, but im really stuck on how to help her her fins are frayed back down to her body and the joint (or where the fin comes from) is very red and looks irritated. she lays on the bottom of the tank looking very sad, she is eating and can swim to the top of the tank. She is housed in a 50l tank with 2 angel fish. They appear to leave her alone and don't annoy her in anyway I gave the tank some stress coat to help her fins I have tried to look to see if her scales are raised but it is hard to tell thank you so much for your help
  9. Hi, have settled with these plants. have looked at their plant profiles and it seems they will all work in together with my tank. Cryptocoryne wendtii Heteranthera zosteraefolia - stargrass Lilaeopsis novae -zeelandiae Limnophila sessiliflora -Ambulia Sagittaria subulata -Dwarf Sagittaria I have some Christmas moss in my other tank, I will take some of that from there and use it. I also brought some fertiliser balls so hopefully they will work well. Now just to buy the plants
  10. WOW! awesome thanks, your tank looks really good!
  11. thanks! had a look and keen on these below, will have to do some research Anubias barteri var. nana Cryptocoryne wendtii var. Echinodorus amazonicus Eleocharis acicularis- Heteranthera zosteraefolia Lilaeopsis novae-zeelandiae Limnophila sessiliflora Lobelia cardinalis Sagittaria subulata
  12. yes she must have been! I got it from the Southern Alps, before Arthurs pass
  13. Hi, I'm curious to know what species this bully is, if he is a bully. I had it about a year ago but sadly he died after the dog drank all of the water from the bucket he was in. I thought he was somewhere safe but I was proven wrong I got him from lake Pearson, are you even allowed to do this? I'm very worried The photo below doesn't fully show his colour, he sometimes showed this blue shimmer, very pretty, you can kind of see it by his gill Im guessing he's an upland bully Thanks!
  14. Hi, I'm really keen on planting my 60L Juwel rekord tank. But need to know a lot more so the plants actually survive and grow For substrate I have rounded and the filter system is the one that comes attached to the tank ( don't want to change either ) I can't think of any types of plants I want as I'm unaware of the varieties out their but I do like the grass that goes in the foreground I also saw some fertiliser balls that go under the plants roots, are these any good? My tank has, 8 golden barbs 1 cherry barb 3 Black neon tetras 3 White cloud/sunset minnows 1 longfin Calico Plec 1 red whiptail cat fish Any advice is much appreciate
