    Hi from Wanganui

Thanks for the help Fish_Tank I had originally thought about Kuhli Loaches, but then i read somewhere (me thinks I read too much! ) that they need a fine substrate like sand whereas I will be using gravel in my tank. Would it still be alright to have Khuli Loaches?

    Hi from Wanganui

Oh, might have to rethink that idea then  I was going by what it says in the book I have got - The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Aquarium Fish & Fish Care. It says "The small B. sidthimunki (dwarf loach, pygmy chain loach) grows to only about 5cm and are popular among aquarist because its size and gentle manner makes it ideal for the community aquarium." Maybe you can't always believe what you read!! What kind of loach would you recommend? Cheers Shar

    Hi from Wanganui

Thanks for the invite ajbroome, but unfortunately I don't have a car so it makes it a bit hard to go out of town . Have been trying to talk someone into taking me over to Palmerston North to have a look at the fish shops. Is it "Wet Pets" the shop that is quite good over there? To tell you the truth Fish_Tank I wish I did have a 4 foot tank!! I did originally buy a 2 foot tank but before I even had it set up I decided it was too small. For the 3 foot tank I am planning a typical community tank with the usual fish such as Guppies, neons, Platies or Swordtails, a pair of dwarf gouramies, bristlenose catfish and maybe some dwarf Loaches (botia sidthimunki). Any other ideas you may have would be greatly appreaciated Cheers Shar

    Hi from Wanganui

Hi Everyone, yet another newbie here! Have been browsing this site for a couple of months now and thought it was time I registered. For Christmas I bought my son a small tank with a couple of goldfish and some mountain minnows (well it was supposed to be for him - honest it was! but guess who looks after it and is more interested in watching the fish than he is! lol) Anyway guess thats all it took for the fish keeping bug to bite as I have since bought a 3 Foot tank that I am currently building a cabinet for and I am eagerly awaiting the day I get it finished so I can start getting the tank set up. Does anyone know if there is a club in Wanganui? Anyway Just wanted to say Hello Cheers Shar
