I got a lot of my plumbing parts from Waterworks on Marua road Mt Wellington, but any local plumbing shop should carry them ,
If you have a look at the Last page of my tank build you can see my plumbing that I recently completed.
-
They are called tank fittings , I could not find them at mitre10/
bunning's either , I got mine from a plumbing shop
These are the ones I got

Even better, get a Playstation 3. Then you can watch DVD's, Blu-Ray's and also play games. And if you connect it to your internet router with a cable or the built in wireless, you can watch TV on demand with it too.
... or you could do that :gpo2:

You can play DVDs and blue rays with a blue ray play. You can only play DVDs with a DVD player.
I agree , get the Blu-ray player then you can do both :bggrn:

Question Re: Bulkheads
Should I silicone them in or do the Seal's that are on them make it watertight enough ?

Got the plumbing parts sorted today , I must say Big UP's to Martin from Waterworks on Marua rd, Mt Wellington , this bro was so helpful and full of ideas , I can only recommend him to anyone that is trying to figure their install out , as for myself this will be keeping me busy over the the weekend...

Nice. Will be a nice looking tank with dems and yellows
Maybe a bit boring ?
-
Nice lookin forward to seeing it filled. Have you sorted out your stock list?
Stock list , well thinking of keeping it simple to start
20 Dems
15 Elec Yellows
4 Cuckoos
Possibly 10 of something else ...

Awsome build. Hows it coming along? Any pics of current progress?
Thanks Mate
It's been going a bit slow lately , Work and life has been keeping me busy , but have finally finished the Electric's , The tank is on a Wooden floor so I decided to strengthen it before I went any further , That's happening tomorrow actually and all going to plan the plumbing will be complete by the end of the weekend then ready for some water !!!
Will get some more pics up over the next couple days :fshi:

Hey Nudge
I know I am digging up an old'ish post here but you mentioned on my post that you had a lot of rock work so I looked for a tank pic of your's and found this vid .
Just had to say Awesome man ! I love the layout of your tank , the Rock work just looks great !

nice sump looks good, where did you get the baskets from for the tower filter is it a diy job?
Thanks !
I got the Baskets from Stowers Plastics near Sylvia Park , they are Stackable Crates ,
I drilled a S#%t load of Holes in the top 2 and cut the sides out the bottom one.
So yes ... DIY job but yet to find out if it works or not :fshi:

Hello all ,
Did a bit of a search on the forum and it seems like both Acrylic paint and Epoxy Paint will be alright to use inside a aquarium ?
Anyone know any different or which one is better ? ... or if there is something else I should use ?
I am planning on painting some clay pots :fshi:

As far as I know it helps with PH , I figured that if I need any more help with it I could always try Crushed Coral in the Sump , I wanted Limestone Rock but just could not find any in Auckland .

... added the rest of the substrate around the rock work so you kind of bury the rocks in to the substate in stead of sitting the rocks on top of the substrate if ya get what i mean. This also helps keep the rock work a little more stable. I've donr this with all my tanks and never had any probs with rocks resting on glass, all my tanks have been 10mm glass or over.
Yeah ,this is kinda what I was thinking so thanks , confirms my thinking's ! ... Planning on going to Stone & Water World this weekend to get me sum Paradise stone , also got a bit done on the Sump tonight
Tower filter and Sump : ( 3 x 200w heaters in bottom open section )
Tower filter Sections : ( using Aqua One Premium noodles )
Mechanical Filtration sections :
Acrylic holder for mechanical filtration :
After the tower filter I have 2 sections of Poret foam and then the return pump , this is as good as I can imagine or figure or guess but I do think its getting there ... :bggrn:

I was doing a bit of reading up on setting up a Cichlid tank and one site suggested putting down egg crate/diffuser on the base of the tank before the rock work to help distribute the weight of the rock etc . does anyone here do that or just directly on the glass ?
Another "have you used this" question... Led lights

David R suggested these to me http://www.current-usa.com, The Current Freshwater plus is the one he has them on his tank , I really like them but had already ordered mine , I am planning on getting a set of the Currents for my dads Community tank ,
I thought they were reasonably well priced considering what you can do with them http://www.kensfish.com
