  1. Well I think they are quite unique. AND shame on you camtang for that comment!! Not everyone shares that point of view that you explained. Some comments are best not said!!! ALSO you can't honestly say all peacock and blue zebra cichlids just to name 2, are hybrids!!! IV got blue zebras and got questioned just because mine have a medium bright blue instead of the darker blue but they still blue zebras!!! You should be ashamed to suggest something like that.
  2. Thank you for that :-D I will try to get some photos of them now free swimming. They not shy and end up all over the tank
  3. Fry are free swimmers today :dnc1: They keeping the parents busy by not staying in the pit ha ha. Little buggers won't stay still for me to get a photo either. But yay, they growing up
  4. Or maybe blue zebra x with something like the electric yellow
  5. The top yellow one is electric yellow, the bottom one I was thinking female red top but looks like its got quite a greeny colouring??? Or is that just the photo?? My female red tops are brown with slight green tinge but they can change to a lightesh blue depending on mood
  6. :dno: Hell you must have good eyes if you can count the wrigglers!!! They still kept in the pit but some are starting to venture. Another couple days ND I think they'll be getting close to free swimming :f77: From the amount of eggs, I estimate 30-50 fry
  7. They have hatched. Do you mean when they become free swimmers? As at the moment they doin the funny wee spazy dance ha ha. I have some very fine powdered fry food so thought id get that to sink slowly so the fry can get it. What do you suggest? Did you get to see the photos via the link? I may need to do it from a computer as that option for pics doesn't seem to be available through my phone internet.
  8. http://s820.photobucket.com/albums/zz12 ... bb00bc.jpg This is about the best I can do. Click on link above and photos will come up. I'll keep trying to post pics without needing the link
  9. I hav some pics but don't know how to upload :-(
  10. Dissapointment, all the eggs disappeared while I was having tea and both Bolivian are together on the other side of tank. Though something about the male made me look, and look..... and look some more. Then blow me over there's a pit of wrigglers :-D WOW. YEHAA. Oh yeh, a pit of wrigglers, oh yeh :dnc1: :happy1: They moved them to other side of tank and looks like the male has stepped up :slfg:
  11. So far, so good. All eggs still healthy and have tiny black dot in each. I'm excited :bggrn:
  12. Yes I'm totally over the moon :happy1: She is bein a great mum and has dug her pit already :digH: The male is just like "meh" and only comes over very sparingly otherwise stays away. Not much he can do through the pregnancy stage. Wonder if he will step up when the kids are born ha ha. Cheap shot, I know...... :lar: Annnnnyway hope to have wigglers in next couple days. Will keep ya all updated :f77:
  13. :dnc1: Wahoo!!!! I was feeding my Dwarfs and noticed my female Bolivian's breeding tube was very.... right there. On closer inspection, saw lots of eggs on a flat rock that she was fanning! What a surprise because, 1; I didn't know they were even looking to breed as haven't shown any sign. And 2; I thought they use caves which I've provided but she chose the flat rock right outside the cave entrance. Tried to take photos but camera can't pick them up as they kinda colour camouflaged with the rock. Oooo so exciting though. Has anyone successfully managed to breed and raise the fry of these little beauties???
  14. Ahhh. I put the severum n there to break any tension that maybe between the 2 discus. Thankyou for that :bggrn:
  15. Thanks godlyevil. So this is a show of dominance then?
  16. I purchased 2 juvenile turq discus and their color is starting to come through strong now. One is very strong in color and swims in front of the other almost as if it's stopping the other one getting round the tank and yet they do move round tank. (sounds Irish i know) Where the other one has dropped it's color quite dramatically because of this display from the first. Can any one explain what's going on?? It looks like a show of dominance but there is no fighting at all. I've tried looking up courtship but this display isn't shown. Theres no shimmering or body shaking as what i have seen as courtship. I do have 3 green severum in tank with them. They all get on well. Any advise greatly appreciated please

    Cockatoo males

There is no orange at all. Not even a tiny bit. It's definite yellow with black markings. Did you have a look at the photo? I'm quite surprised that I have got another lot off the same breeder and these are coming out yellow as well. Thats why I thought I must be doing something wrong  Maybe if they breed and if the young turn out yellow, they might sell well due to being something different :slfg:

    Cockatoo males

Thanks for that sunbird73. Have a look under, a new acquisition, page 5 on forum and scroll 3/4 down. You will see a pic of my male from last year. He's in a glass. Sadly I lost him but the new ones are turning out the same colour. See what you think. It's really devastating when our wee beauties have horrible accidents. Like all pets, you get attached to fish as well and is totally gut wrenching when something goes wrong :cry1:

Thanks for that Sophia. Looks like it takes a bit of sorting out. I thought I might've been able to post one from "my pictures" but.....

    Cockatoo males

Thanks for your response. They are approx 1 inch long. The fins on 1 are, pelvic, anal, dorsal and tail, all yellow with the black markings and the other, anal, dorsal and tail yellow with black markings but the pelvic fins are clear or no colour with black on the front of the fin. (similar to the female) Both have been flashing and dancing in front of females so was pretty sure by that display they were males. It has happened to me with my 1st cockatoo and a pic was posted in this forum by danval end of last year. These are my 2nd lot. (Sadly my 1st passed away) I'm just wondering what i maybe doing wrong. I'm wondering if it's the gold sand but notice lots of people have the white gravel and still get red males. I feed them tropical granuals natural colour enhancer alternate days to basic flake food and twice a week, frozen bloodworms. (petshop said only twice a week because it's a rich protein food) Any advice greatly appreciated as was really hoping for a red 1 this time. I've found the photo but don't know how to post on here :dunno:

    Cockatoo males

Hi, Does anyone know if male cockatoos can change their colour? My tank has gold substrate but is heavily planted and has oak leaves. I purchased triple red juvies and they have come out yellow! I would like at least 1 red. Thanks
