  1. How hot do your current-usa LEDs get? I'm looking at buying some but do you think its a bad idea to have them installed under a hood? (aquaone tank)
  2. Oh I was wrong calling it a flaw I knew that was the way it was designed, its just not the way I was hoping it would be. I wanted to be able to have the lights on a timer.
  3. Ok guys here is another question. After setting this tank up and planting it out I found one flaw, there is 4 settings for day lights and 2 for night lights and you have to keep pushing either the day button or night button to cycle through them. But whenever you turn the power off then back on it doesn't go back to the last setting it just goes to off. So having them all set up on timer is useless as it will turn them off but you manually have to go and turn them on every time. I was hoping someone here has ran into this problem, either with this tank or another, and what they done to fix it. I am thinking that it may just have to be re-wired to bypass the controller but I hope not. Other that that I love this tank and I can not wait to get two dwarf puffers in there!
  4. OK I will do that. It also has a level to turn flow down so I will try that to. Thanks.
  5. OK guys I now have the tank. The filter it came with is a hailea rp 200 http://www.hailea.com/e-hailea/product1/RP-200.htm. It only has foam do you think its worth while cutting a bit of the foam back to fit some noodles in there?
  6. Height and depth is sweet but width I only have 360 mm to play with.
  7. Height and depth is sweet but width I only have 360 mm to play with.
  8. Thanks I did see that but I was wanting to double check that's the total measurement and not something like just the tank.
  9. Hi I'm wondering if anyone has this tank if they could take an overall length measurement for me, I'm wanting to get a couple of dwarf puffers but the area I want the tank might just be to tight of a fit. Thanks.
  10. That sounds like what I need Also since they breathe air at the surface is it going to be a problem having an enclosed lid? I know its not air tight but is it bad for them breathing warm humid air I guess not but want to be sure
  11. Thanks a lot. Well I have already paid for the green pine so may as well chuck it in and see what happens. It can't do any harm could it?
  12. Nope I did not know that, thanks it sounds good. So you don't have any idea on the green pine?
  13. Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a couple of Dwarf gourami's and will need some floating plants in my tank. Any advice on them would be awesome ( my first planted tank). Also I have some amublia coming and also purchased what he called green pine after googling this I can't seem to find any info on it. Does green pine go by another name? Thanks.
  14. Oh that sucks about the size. Would that be caused by mis treatment? I don't think she ever feed the bristlenose but I have been giving him slices of cucumber he seems to love that. What else should I be feeding him.
  15. Hi again, here is a couple of links to the two fish. The sucker is hard to get a pic of. http://db.tt/5Q80EDnM http://db.tt/OlQ9l2ec Sorry I would of direct linked the picture instead of using drop box but photo bucket won't let me copy links while using my phone Do they look small for there age just over 2 years old she reckons?
  16. Just about had it, its Taieri I have never had a meal there but have heard of plenty of good things about it. Anyway a bit of an update I was giving another 50 litre tank with heater and filter and all when this girl was moving away. It also came with two fish which I struggle to see how they survived in the mess they were in. She only added water when the old water evaporated. It got so low I was told that the angel fish had to swim sideways! Crazy! I like to think I saved them a little bit. But it is all a learning curve for me and I don't even know exactly what fish I even have I know one is an angel fish and the other is some sort of sucker fish. But I'm still hoping to get parts together to get my 250 litre up and running to give them more room to play
  17. Do you reckon to go to a jager 100 watt over the 50? I know 50 would work but down here it can get very cold in winter, so im guessing 100 watt would give me a little more head room? So would you recommend an under gravel over A HOB? I will have to have a look as I havnt come across any under gravel ones in my travels. Do you know A couple of good ones?
  18. Cool thanks SamH thats the info I was looking for. Im going to make a list up tonight and show the bank manager (My partner..). I have to say I was surpised she is letting me do both tanks, she couldn't say no when she watched the vids as well
  19. Hey guys After watching dwarf puffer fishes on youtube, i cant stop thinking of them! At the moment Im in the process of setting up a 250 Litre tank but I am taking that extremly slow and doing it right the first time, but i have also been giving a 50L Tank. If it was you, what setup would you go for to house these fish in this little tank (As in what filter, heater, sand etc etc). I don't want to spend a fortune on this one, but I dont want to take shortcuts that could affect the fish in anyway either. Sorry for the in-experienced questions but I really am a learner at all of this. I seem to read alot on line but with everyone having there different thoughts on what works and what doesnt I get a little confused. Kind regards, Steven.
  20. To be honest Im still looking at ideas, But I seem to like the more bare looking tanks to the fully planted ones. as In a sandy bottom, rocks and drift wood with what i guess is some sort of moss or something. Not saying I don't like your guys planted tanks, i just dont want to get into to much plants at the moment. I'm defiently going to be starting with freshwater but from there the world is my oyster, so to say. I do want a group of some sort of schooling fish. I also have been giving a 50 litre tank maybe that could be a puffer tank But I'm not sure how well the girlfriend would take to me starting two tanks at this time. Also Im looking at buying a FX5 filter for this tank It maybe a little over kill for this tank (?) but I always have a problem with trying to future prove. Does this seem like a good idea? Sorry to go on, but nice to meet you guys.
  21. Hey guys, Having just joined this site I thought I'd just say hello in here. A little about me is my name is Steve and I live Milton, Otago. I work for a construction company (Calder Stewart) as an x Steeler (steel draughtsman) I'm not an fish owner as yet, but have been interested in doing it for a while now. A work mate has just giving me a 250l tank to try it out for 3 months or so to see what its like. I have to say it seems like hard work just choosing which fish I like the look of and which go together. I'm a little upset pygmy puffer fish are nasty little things to other species. &c:ry Regards, Steve
