  1. Have you got any pics? your set up sounds the same as mine and i have the same problem my clowns destroy anything with a large leaf!!! i have just put a $50 bunch of tiger lotus in which was a real fun game for them

I have a pressurised co2 system on mine and haven't noticed any change in plant growth.

i'm just learning with plants so cant really give advice on light time etc but i think crypt and java fern only need low light so they should be fine

  2. ok i havnt seen any flying but have just put my foot threw the floor boards so they must be there somewhere i will contact the pest guy and see what he recommends thanks for the advice saves me spending $30 on rubbish products

  3. haha ok this sounds intresting.Ill get sum srink wrap from work wrap it up air tight and put some air lines going outside one pumping air in and one taking it out and drop the water level to half way ill let yiz no how i get on thanks for the advice.

  4. I run a pond filter on my 6ft tank with the pump in tank and its a pain!! id go a fx5 or any other canister filter if i was to do it again, it dosnt have taps so makes a mess everytime i remove it,it weighs a lot as it holds about 20L, and reconnecting the hoses and getting them to seal is an art in itself. The steraliser works a treat tho i havnt had a sick or dead fish since i got it and that was about a year ago now (touch wood)

  5. yea i brought the ph controller for the fish trying to keep ph steady. Iv just added crushed shell to bring ph up because it was getting down as low 4 so ph is now 6.5 and climbing slowly co2 should switch on and off to keep it at 6.2 when i get it running

i have brought all the parts mentioned so hopefully it will be set up this weekend

    questions

does the bubble counter come full or do i just put water in it?

do i put the one way valve b4 the bubble counter after the reg?

what bubble rate should i start with?

All i have growing at the moment is cript and some other plant i dont no the name of. I would like to get a java fern or moss wall going but they always seem to die

  6. You'll be hard pressed to find a CO2 system with a pH controller for $400.

Most expensive bit is the CO2 cylinder itself which can be about $300 for a decent / appropriate sized bottle.

yea thats ok i have been saveing so got abit more money now.

what size bottle do you recomend?

  7. I am looking at buying a co2 system for my 6x2x2

I have never had a co2 system b4 and was wondering what i need?

Is there anything i should watch out for?

wanting to spend about $400 and would like one with a ph controller and as bigger bottle as pos

    any advice would be great.

If anyone has one on here that they would like to sell please pm me

    Thanks Chris

  8. My gf must have got a surprise then coz i tend to under estimate my sizing :sml2:

i have a 200L tank set up for quarantine and did use it when i brought the 6 loaches off here other than that i never do, might start using it tho as david r said i would hate to see my big guys struggling

  9. Why does everyone over estimate the size of fish!!!

The 18cm loach arrived today, more like 12cm thats a pretty big difference in my books, still looking awsome i will upload a pic if it's out schooling tomorrow morning to show the difference in sizes.

Also do you guys quarantine loaches? Everyone (internet sights) tells me too because they get white spot easy but my loaches have never had it. I don't no what it is that i do different but somethings keeping it under control maybe UV light?

When i get a new fish i put the bag in the tank for few hours letting small bits of tank water in every now and again then put the fish into a bucket, then net it and put it straight into the tank. Seems to work for me(touch wood)!

Anyone else got any methods or ways of keeping it in check when introducing new fish?

  10. I think its bba as well, i use flourish excel to get rid of it and if i can remove the wood from the tank i tip boiling water on it.

awesome setup wish i could make a setup like that
