how important is the valve as i have one pump without one. My deltec removes little skimmate -i have just put this down to a low bio load

I recently moved house and i did the tank last. During the move i had my corals -all softies in a small tank while i did my set up. The thing is i had them in a small tank for 4 days and moved them back. I have noticed that all of the corals are withdrawn . How long will this last or how will i see that a coral has not made it

I had a Arc eye hawkfish in my tank for a while -he was quite a lively chap and always first to the food . I added a frag of Xenia and when i put it in the water a small piece must have come loose and drifted in the current. The hawk did his ussual pounce and swallowed the piece in one go. As soon as he did he made about 3 mid air flips and nearly jumped out of the tank. He was never the same after that and from then he never had food again. He hid and never perched on his fins. This morning i came out and saw all was not well -he was thin as and i knew it was over. Later i found him dead -36 days without food. I know long time without food is not rare and i wonder if this has happened to someone else

Just to see what carbon is used by most. One that is phosphate free

What is the best or most suitable carbon to use and where do you get it from

for those on the shore -any posibility we can car pool

My phosphate is in my deltec skimmer before the sponge and my carbon is placed in my sump-is this not good enough or will i need to get a canister filter

Do you use carbon and phostphate remover together in a canister filter

Just added small frag to my tank this weekend-tonight i saw that it looks like long stringy filaments coming off it. Is this normal or might it be unhappy with its placement-its quite low in my tank with 150 MH

What amount of live rock will be sufficient for a 3 foot tank- My tank is 36x20x15 and i have a similar size sump. At the moment i have 24 kg

last time a saw a clown Wrasse for $70 and now its $55. All the clowns are from $55 up -Bird wrasse $90 -Anthanias $55 up-blue tang $90 and so on

Thanks for that. I think RO/DI is the way then. My only concern is that i stay on a rural property with tank water with weak water flow. Every 2/3 days i have to scrub my bath as it gets a blue green tinge so i wonder if it will affect the filters more

Will DI water be good enough to keep a reef system or must it be R/O .

What is a good starter anenome. Will a 150 w MH light be good enough/strong enough and what else will be needed to keep it . I have a 3 foot tank with a large sump-5000lph return pump and three eheim pumps with a output of 1000 lph per pump.

i had a clown wrasse for a month-stunning fish. i came home and looked for him as he burried him in the gravel. i saw the cat playing with something and guess what it was the wrasse-he got out a very small opening. he was alive for a week but died

I agree that you can keep a trigger in a reef but one will never know untill you add it to the tank. I added a snail and he killed it in a day-just like any other object that moves thats edible. If you do find one thats peacefull-what a bonus. It is in the nature of this fish to dominate and to be robust. I wont add mine to a reef but then you might be lucky -the majority will however keep well clear of triggers

I have a Niger in a fish only system. I add live shrimps once a week and he is brutal on them . I do not want to waste my money on cleaner shrimps as i can see them going the same way.
