  1. hahaha yes that is scary. I had some lined up but they didn't work out and I have access to a dehydrator so it should be fine.
  2. Calling all native freshwater plant experts. I am looking for the following species in the Auckland region for a herbarium project at university. If you have any of know where to find them please let me know as I'm keen to get them. I only need one specimen of each and would be eternally grateful and there would be a bottle of wine or box of chocolates for anyone who has one for me or can show me the place to find them The species are Azolla filiculoides or Azolla rubra Ricciocarpus natans Pilularia novae-zelandiae Thanks guys I really appreciate it  :nilly:
  3. Hi that sounds awesome you should visit Mahurangi Technical Institute they are based in Warkworth so are not far from you. They have a wide knowledge base on Native Fish and probably can help you identify any species in the pond/lake. Phone them and ask for Dave Cooper. For help with planting and the likes there is a company based in Red Beach known as Wetland Solutions who provide help and funding for planting. Their website is http://www.wetland.co.nz/ Good Luck
  4. Thank you for all your help but was lucky enough to find a stream up near snells beach with a lovely big patch in there
  5. Thank you so much Sophia I shall have a look there this weekend and let you know
  6. Hi all, I am in need of some help finding sites were Myriphyllum Propinquum grows naturally in the Auckland/Rodney District. Currently I am conducting research on Myriophyllum Propinquum's ability to assimlated nitrogen and phosphorus from the water quality in an attempt to recommend as a biological water quality control method for Van Dammes Lagoon in Tamaki. If anyone has seen this gorgeous native plant in a stream or river in the Auckland/Rodney district could you please send me a PM or a post so that I may come look at it's habitat and take a few cuttings for some lab experiments. I would be ever so grateful to anyone who helps and am more than happy to show my results and hopefully published paper at the end. Note: Please be careful not to mix the native Myriophyllum up with the invasive parrots feather which looks very similar. If you need up identifying the species let me know. Cheers
