    my first reef tank

All the research I did before buying the niger said that as long as the cleaner is in there first and the fish is fed well it should leave it alone.

    my first reef tank

the marisys is ok, has plenty of media, ceramic balls and carbon in the bottom tray, bio balls in the middle and sponges in the top tray meant to be self priming but it can be a pain to start, and rather than having a collection cup it has a hose coming out the bottom of the cup that goes into a coke bottle. http://www.aquaone.co.uk/marisysseriestwo.php i wanted a red sea but this set up came up much cheaper and bigger than the cheapest red sea
  3. Hi everyone. This is my reef tank, it is a aqua marine 900 (170-180L) with a MariSys 240 filter with built in skimmer and a Boyu WM-4 wave maker system Niger trigger (The Count) Cleaner Shrimp (Roger) Corals, Pulsing xenia, white toadstool, Frog spawn, red mushrooms and green star polyps. thanks for checking out my tank, i have put a lot of time, money and patients into it and am very proud of what i have so far. Jamie.

    Finally some fish

Anthias died before shipping so money was returned. Niger arrived and is around the size of a $2 coin. My tank is a aquamarine 900 with a marisys 240 series 2. So in short 173L I will upgrade when the time comes
  5. After 2-3 months of cycling 2 tanks we finally got our first fish arrive today for a fish only tank, a clown trigger and a long horn cow fish. They are pretty awesome. Tomorrow my fish for my reef tank arrive a Niger trigger and a purple queen. I am a bit hesitant on the purple queen because I have read they aren't easy to feed. But I have already it so no going back now. Super excited. Does anyone have any advice on the purple queen?
  6. Its approx 30x30x45 Has substrate of Daltons aquatic mix with gravel over the top already in there
  7. I have some wood for the fern. And will be adding some other stems and hopefully crypts as well, just really like those 2 types of java. The Daltons I have for a bigger tank I will be setting up, But figured there wouldnt be any harm in putting it under the gravel of the small tank too. So as for lighting I read of people just using a desk lamp with one of the energy saver bulbs would this work or would the small jebo clamp on lights work for planted tanks? Or do I need to find something else that will fit on the narrow but deep tank? Thanks for the help.
  8. Hi everyone. Quick question, we want to set up a planted tropical tank and was wondering if we need a UV light in there? Also we are going to start small and do a small tank before we put money into something bigger, we cannot get a proper light hood as the tank is only 30cm wide but is a tallish tank. What will be the best lighting for it? We have Doltons aquatic mix and are planning on putting Java fern and needle leaf java in it for now. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks
  9. Hi everyone. Just wondering what the best way to beef my beardies up before i brumate them?
  10. It looks like a shedding problem may have started it but can't be certain. There appears to be a little bit of dried blood also. It is black and very dry and shriveled. About an inch of the tail, but looks to be spreading. looks pretty dead. We thought the safest would be for her to drop it, but she wont let it go!
  11. One of our leopard geckos tail is looking like it is dying, the gecko itself is still very active but we dont want it to spread. It has only been in the last couple of days that this has happened. what do we do? any advice is better than nothing Thanks Jamie
  12. oh..was already on here. thanks

  16. Hi all. My female bearded dragon is about ready to lay her first clutch off eggs (fingers crossed they are fertile) And when i got home today and looked in their tank i saw a small egg shaped thing in their gravel. it didnt look very well formed almost as if it came out accidentally. she still feels as if she has eggs in her though and there was only one. Was just wondering if this is normal? i put it in the incubator just incase
  17. Hi all. How hard is it to breed fire bellied newts? I have one so will obviously need another but not too sure on how to do it

  20. "Small Dog Syndrome is a label that implies a small dog will try to act larger than life to protect itself and its own interests. As with the fabled Napoleon Bonaparte, many of us believe a small dog has to puff up and bluster because everything in a small dog’s world seems large and threatening." http://asmalldog.com/small-dog-syndrome/ This has nothing to do with what has been bred into9 them.
