  1. Hi guys, found this beautiful male guppy but unsure on what breed he is? Not an albino but still beautifully pink! Also would like to know what kind of female I should breed him with to get the colour through his spawn? Have tried with a blonde female but waiting for the fry to grow into their colours...

  2. I've had mine jump into the others compartment overnight THREE seperate times! So frustrating because their fins just start looking nice again and then they go and decide to do that  Have made a lid now so shouldn't happen again. Lol. Was going to put pic of my double tail up but its looking too ragged for a photo shoot at the mo...

  3. Not sure whether its a female or male though... if it's a male it is definatley a plakat. It's fairly young but it doesn't appear to have an egg tube and not showing any vertical stripes when presented to my male. Will post pic soon - may need some help in identifying him/her... lol

  4. Done the recommended ratio salt dip 4 consecutive days in a row now - discus seems to be getting more and more sensitive to the salt... yesterday and today, within 5 seconds of putting him in the dip he would keel over and breathing rate dropped alarmingly! :-? What do I do! As soon as I take him out and put him back in freshwater he's fine... He's still breathing quite heavily when he's back in the community tank (once he's recovered from the salt bath) though. Should I continue with the salt dips until he gets better? Or try something else?

  5. Hi all, been reading up on salt dips but can't seem to find any regularity in the salt/water ratios for salt dips... got a baby discus with suspected gill flukes and would love to know what process works best from anyone who has done successful salt dips? Also how long should you leave discus in the salt dip for? Aly help would be much appreciated :-)

  6. thanks for all your kind word :) only a measly 7 made it... and 5 of them appear to be girls - unsure of the other two though, they are a wee bit smaller. A lot of them got this strange disease where all of the sick ones had really clamped fins, turned pale, started darting around before they died and when they did die I noticed that their skull/brain appeared swollen and raised... tried my best to cure it but it just wouldn't go away. Water changes, epsom salt, antibacterial meds - the lot! Nothing I tried seemed to work... don't even know what disease they really had - nothing on the net could help me.

  7. Sad news, my beautiful dragon male (profile pic) died... some bacterial infection ravaged my tank - took out a few of my females too :tears: can the new tap water play a part in bacterial infections? everything was normal and then one day I noticed my male was a little quieter than usual and the next day he was dead! Just a couple of days after that my 2 girls got dropsy, and then also lost a lot from my spawn (were in a separate by the way). Devastating! Here a couple from my spawn... got quite a few females from him but the ones that survived are showing the dragon scales :-)

  8. thanks for the pics katrina.. did you breed those yourself? What do you say the colour is?

I'm trying to get some sort of consensus so I can say he's such and such a colour...

I think they are called 'black devil's' just google black devil betta in images and you can see what they look like. Nah, I bought these ones separately - hoping to get a bit more of an even spread in regards to the red colouring :-)

  9. Here's a short list of what I've been recommended in the past...

-Baby Brine Shrimp (take a while to hatch though)

    -Decapsulated BBS

-Infusoria (found in dirty pond water)

-Boiled Egg Yolk (pollutes water as stated above)

-Liquifry (hard to get the fry to eat this though)

    -Microworms

    -Daphnia

Good luck with your fry :-)
