No pics yet, will let them settle in first.
As for food, stuff that isn't super high in protein and has lots of vege matter is ideal. NLS is great (no they don't pay me to keep saying that!), and in the past I've fed spirulina flake and cos lettuce to them too.
is it key that you dont feed them to much meat protein?

They are a few other big pleco options if you are put of by the mess. If you after a cool but stroppy pleco for your tank then leopard cactus plecos (L114) are another cool option (my avatar is one of my adult females). They are largely carnivorous so they do well on a high protein diet but they do eat a fair few algal wafers as well. However they do have a bit of an atitude. Anyway small ones are on the importers lists at the moment.
If you want a largely vegetarian option with less mess then you could go for a gold nugget or a green or gold phantom. And there is also nothing wrong with a large redspot or goldspot pleco in a tank that size. However all big plecos eat a lot and produce a fair bit of waste.
I used to have a L114 i loved him, i have been thinking about getting some, but they can be quite agro so do you think i could get away with 3 in a 600l plus a few other plecos
-
Wow okay maybe not then....
-
there is nothing wrong with standard royals if you have the tank space. They are one of my all time favourite plecos and a stunning adition for a very large tank.
Would 600l be large enough?

Dam! Cause with my new tank im looking for some nice plecos :nfs: any suggestions?

Can we get the L27 here?

So whats everyones opinion, should i not worry about wave makers?
-
Hi adrienne, i dont mind it being that dark grey like in the picture david posted, that was the look i was actually after
-
Thanks guys i guess ill leave the wave makers at this point then, and i will make a trip to stone and waterworld on monday and have a look as to what im interested in
-

In regards to the jebo pumps are they reliable, i have heard stories about jebo quality, i dont mind paying extra for good quality. Also it will be a south american cichlid tank
I have looked on hollywoods website and they do a dark fine grit i may have a look and use that.

Hey guys its been a while, last year i study aquaculture at mauharangi tech so was flatting away from home so was un able to have a tank but now im home again , i have to be honest lately my tanks have be neglected alot lately but i think its cause ive gotten bored so its time to change it up, im selling my current display tank which is a 330l planted tank, now im upgrading to a 600l and hopefully doing a south american cichlid tank. The fish shed will be gutted of all the tanks but a 4ft and a 3ft, i will be adding hopefully a 2.2m x 1m x 70cm tank which i would eventually get an asian arowana in, it helps that im working full time now so i can fund my projects properly so hopfully look forward to a bit more activity from me

Hey guys been a while, so now ive decided to redo my room which includes upgrading the current 330l to a 600l 6ft by 2ft square ( made by greg, have just messaged him am in the proccess of ordering the tank), i will most likely be doing a large south american cichlid tank.
Now the plan is to build a rimu cabinet out of heart rimu to get that beautiful red grain colour, also with a matching hood.
The filters will be 2x aquaone nautlis 2700 filter, maybe wave makers? First question- what wave makers should i use, i have heard tunze are the best but what models and do i need a controller etc( im completely new to wavemakers) i am wanting ALOT of flow in this tank, so suggestions?
The heaters will be 2 x 300w eheim jager heaters
Substrate im wanting a fine dark grey grit but am having trouble finding anythink like what i have pictured in my head, i wanted sand orginally but i would be un able to gravel vac it so i think a fine grit maybe better suited? Any suggestions? Ideas?
Lighting will most likey a twin 5ft light fitting, possible a twin t5 ballast 54w mounted to the hood- will this be enough? I do like quite bright tanks so will this be enough?
Anything ive missed? Any suggestions? Questions? Will be a slow build so wont be updating all the time but will keep you posted and try to take lots of photos :cophot:

Yes, ive had a few problems with them jamming on or off and killing peoples fish. Better off buying a good quality ehiem jager heater, then you have piece of mind.

Lies, this happens alot with these lights, but you can replace the lighting

Ive breed them before, they are cool little guys, inever had any problems with them getting sick and they werent getting alot of attention so they werent treated with amazing water quality.
