My tank is probably a little small at 30Litres, I now have 3 puffers and 4 bumble bees and 1 otto.
I have changed tank a month ago it was bigger but no room at the new house.
Haven't had a problem so far, just doing big water change every week.
How many bumble bees do you think i could hav in a 15l? i was thinking two
-
I have a carpet in my 25l it has co2 + 1w/L and florish organism has some
-
I keep bumble bee gobies with my puffers and there are fine, puffers don't seem to touch them but the bumble bees chase each other, also have an otto cat with them as well.
I also have an otto in with them.I feed them today very cool to watch and does anyone now what I can feed bumble bee gobies appart from blood worm?

Im currently using a desk lamp. 8)
I got my one (bit more modern) on special for $45 and it also came with an Energy Saver Compact Fluorescent bulb in the box for free :bounce:
However you can go into Mitre10 or Bunnings, Warehouse etc and get any desk lamps that take energy savers.
Heres one from Mitre10
It comes in white, black or silver....and you can buy one that has a clip instead of a base, allowing you to clip it to the tank.
I'm using a Phillips 18w (100w Equivalent) 6500K Energy Saver Compact Fluorescent. They come in the shiny green boxes. There are other bulbs you can get so I guess its up to you and your plant requirements. I have Hairgrass and Glosso, both going well
Cheap desk lamp: $10
CFL Energy Saver: $8
Flourishing Aquarium: Priceless
Hope this helps :bounce:
I think I have this lamp some where will it work with the 18w energy savers seeing that its 60w fitting?
Thanks

I have a couple of the Jebo aquarium lamps, JB09. They cost about $39 (I think) including a compact flourescent 9w tube. I got them from Organism in Chch. They are great in that they attach easily to the tank.
I have this light on it now but it doesnt seem to be enough migh try getting a new bulb but will deffinately have a look a bunnings/mitre 10
thanks for your help

This is Bacopa moniera
The other one I have seen named Babies Tears is Soleirolia soleirolii as a marginal water plant.

Sorry Chogs I wasn't in the best of moods last night and didn't play nicely.
Hows that paekakboyz
Its fine dont no worrys at all
There are four plants around that are very similar and they are generally sold in the emersed form. Hemianthus has the leaves in apposing pairs. The others I think alternate. They are all called baby tears along with some other plants.so ive seen a plant at my lfs and it is sold under the name of baby tears it has fat rounded leaves would this be Hemianthus,or some other plant?
-
the plant in question is sold under at least 3 different common names, and since its grown emersed and the leaf looks different, is confsed and even sold as baby tears all the time. Im sure I have sold this as baby tears dozens of times.
yea I agree it is easy to confuse.
-
No, it's not baby tears and yes it is around, well it used to be. I used to have some in my old planted tank a few years ago, but I haven't seen it since...just like barclaya :-? Maybe try ringing Organism?
EDIT: added photo
This was it
Yes I talked to John at Organism and he faxed a supplyer for me so will see what comes up.
Wow nice tank by the way and thats definitely the plant.
Im sure Hollywoods Mt Roskill had some, but it was not for sale.I cant remember exactly if its that, but the guy said he would PM me when its ready for sale.
That was nearly 4 months ago, so I assume its not being sold.
I may be wrong , but Im sure it was this plant. I was tired and not thinking straight after just being at a Slayer/Megadeth gig the night before.HTH
would you send some to me if you were lucky enough to get a cutting?
Slayer/Megadeth,sounds lovely
-
noo! no time wasting going on here, I wait for threads to pop up in the plant and catfish section
sweet
-
I don't think it is available here. Hemianthus umbrosum is around and is sometimes sold as callitrichoides
I just bought some of that today
-
Isn't that just baby tears?
from what ive seen on internet and in Takashi amano book two It looks like it has smaller and less rounded leaves but Im probably wrong sorry to waste your time.
-
Hi
Im looking for a plant called Micranthemum/Hemianthus micranthemoides
I think its called pearl weed also.
Has anyone seen this plant in new zealand before,im realy keen for a cutting of it...
Is there anywhere else apart from trade me and LFS that has aquatic plants for sale like an online shop?
thanks
-
I have some trumpets for sale on trade me.
-
All of those types of fish need at least 5 in a group (or more) to be happiest, and that tank can accomodate it.
yes I know,I will build up the schools thanks
-
Woa nice tank maybe the spring water you have is good for the plants...
