  1. If I kept my neons and golden barbs..what colourful fish would be best to put with them.h
  2. Thanks for that. Someone said the tetras could not take the higher temperatures but the cardinals could. Do you know anything about that?
  3. I am trying to decide between getting a severum or discus to go with my neon tetras and cardinals plus my six golden barbs. Will my neons and/or cardinals get eaten by either a severum or discus can anyone tell me please.
  4. Guess it is a matter of trial and error...Have had a small tank for quite a while and learnt the hard way about tiger barbs and neons!!
  5. gee that is alot of cardinals...thanks for that information. How many discus do you have with them and are the discus aggressive to each other. See one of my replies above about aggressive discus.
  6. true, I could do that. but will the barbs/cardinals stand the higher temperatures?
  7. Thanks for all the info. I might have to rethink what to put with my neons and golden barbs. Any suggestions please?
  8. Thanks for that. If I got both discus from the same person/shop it would be evident perhaps that they got along do you think.
  9. .... I am upgrading to a 120 litre tank so will be getting some more fish. I have 6 golden barbs and 12 or so neons. Would two discus fish be okay with them or would there be some aggression between them? If so, would two angel fish be better.
  10. One of my neons has disappeared! There were three and now there are two. Is it possible that one of my tiger barbs would have eaten it?
  11. Thanks for that information. Shame...they are such a beautiful colour but there you are. Have a nice weekend.
  12. :-? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 221605.htm These fish are on Trade Me at present. I have tiger barbs and neons...would these all be compatible can someone tell me please. Thanks.
  13. I have five tiger barbs. how can i tell which ones are the females. How can I tell if any of the females are pregnant?
  14. They both keep hovering over the eggs but i have not seen them eat any. Do you think I should remove the two angels who are separated from the main part of the tank and leave the eggs where they are.
  15. This is the third time they have laid eggs and they ate the first two lots but this time I must say they are being very good parents (!) and leaving them alone. I just wondered if the water would get poisoned or something if the dead eggs were left.
  16. Hi everyone...I am feeding my son-in-laws fish from today until he gets home Sunday evening. His angel fish have laid eggs (yesterday, Thursday) and this morning some of them have gone white. I understand these white ones are dead ones. Is this correct and is it okay for me to leave them in the tank until he gets home Sunday evening? The eggs have been laid on a leaf.
  17. Sorry about delay in replying - visitors arrived then got tea. To answer your question...There are three golden tiger barbs in the tgank, 4 neons, 3 tiger barbs, 1 algae eater and 3 swords. They are not nipping each other chasing each other around. One is quite pale and the other has a bright coloured nose and stronger coloured stripes.
  18. ...for the last few days have been chasing each other around the tank. I do not know if this is a breeding ritual or what. I do not know how to tell which is a male and which is a female also. :-? Can anyone shed some light on this odd behaviour please. :-? :-?
  19. No, just one going in crazy circles but there are two of them sort of hanging around together.
  20. ...golden tiger barb that is going crazy...swimming round and round in circles...obviously some sort of ritual. Can anyone tell me is this a male breeding tactic to catch the eye of a female? How will I know if and when they are actually going to breed?
  21. That's okay Nymox...I am learning too believe me. I love looking at the fish in my tank. My son in law has a very big tank with lots of different fish and he suggested one day i should get a little one and the rest is history as they say.
  22. The water ager is to take chlorine out of the water. I would not have thought that would make it brown though as it goes brown after about 4 days.
  23. hi, my tank is a Jebo R338, guess that menas it is 38L. To clean it I take out two buckets each time and use water ager when I put fresh water in. I live in Wellington I have pebbles on the bottom, two plastic plants and a log. No wood is in the tank.
  24. Hi, perhaps I should put a real plant in. How big is your tank and how many plants did you put in it.
