  1. As you have had them for 6mths would indicate that they are atleast 9mths old, as most breeders will not sell them under 3mths old. This means that they are definatly old enough to start breeding. Nudging and shaking at each other is sign of breeding behaviour. If it is aggression them one fish will be chasing the other one arround the tank, and the one getting chased will tend to cower in the corners.
  2. The birds didnt want it, but after being told what to think, they are now ok with it. The pigeons were the challange, the chinese people have been controlled and told what to think and do for a long time
  3. They should start up fish racing for us
  4. The best place to get the fittings from is a farming supplier such as PGG Wrightsons. They sell tank fittings that come with the propper seals and any elbows you need. I found them cheaper and had a better selection than Bunnings.
  5. You should feed them atleast twice a day with either tetra colour bits or JBL nova bits, both have been formulated for discus, beef heart is also another widely used food for discus. The water changes are not so much because of the waste, but because they give off hormones that stunt the growth of the other discus in the tank. If you dont do enough water changes then you will get one fish that is larger than the others. As for worming it is best to use Prazi and Aviverm, both are available from your vet. There are a few threads on here for dosing rates.
  6. These behaviours are definatly a sign of spawning. As they are still young fish, they will probibly eat the first few batches of eggs.
  7. We generally just use it in the water, that way we know that they are being treated properly. I tryed it once in the beef heart but as the greadier ones eat more, so they get more of the prazi than others. It didn't cause any problems, but you don't know if each fish has got the right dosage. Also some people say to mix the prazi with vodka. Dont, I have heard some bad things about this, or if you do then you drink the vodka, and give the fish the prazi. I use the end of a 6inch rolling pin to grind the tablets up in an egg cup, then when it is a fine powder I half fill the egg cup with tank water, mix then add to the tank.
  8. The following link has the dosage rates for prazi as well as many other drugs http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... =15&t=2282 We have used it with our discus at 50mg per 25ltrs water and had no problems

    Gill Flukes?

Try using prazi for flukes. The following link has some usefull info. http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... =15&t=2282
  10. I wouldn't reccommend it unless you want cooked Axolotl. Discus need to be kept between 28-30 degrees. We keep our Axolotl's in cold water.
  11. simplydiscus.com also has a good ID section.
  12. Cab you tell me what is the name of the liquid is that you can get from the vet?
  13. Thanks for the warning, I to have read that prazi desolves best using vodka, and thought about trying it, but each time I ended up drinking the vodka and disolving it in water. I think I read it on here that Hollywoods have a liquid wormer that has prazi in it, which would be great, because I to use the tabs.
