  1. funny, ive never seen ours tackle snails. Our skunk loach does all the snail cleaning (eating) if you wanted to try them? (not as pretty mind you)
  2. haha, jas is flat on his back due to another slipped disc, so i cant see that happening!
  3. awesome cheers, apparently (according to the mr) we might not be able to have them because we already have gobies? We thinking maybe scat or puffer if anyone has even heard/seen any around?
  4. Really would like to know whats out there in terms of brackish fish as we are setting one up. Ta Or any info of what we can grab naturally from waters around tga?
  5. ours do that before they breed....it could be love!! haha :D wicked colours!
  6. ooooh perty. one day....when we find room for another tank/money:D:D:D
  7. we found our fish needed aeration (cus we took a while to move), we just chuck a little air stone in. not sure about specifics tho....:D or if its really necessary
  8. thats what we do, just a big black rubbish type bin if your trip is going to be short (as it looks to be!) that we put all water and fish that we can in (so we can put as much original water back in as poss) and leave about an inch of water in the tank. during all our moves that has been the way and only deaths have been 2 cichlids (someone forgot to aerate the water as our trip was over an hour  )
  9. cheers mate, on a side note (i was being nosey) the 2nd photo in your bucket photos...what kind of fighter is that? Its beautiful!
  10. Hey, so is there a 'list' or something somewhere where we can search for what breed we want and who breeds them?
  11. Hey, we've found that any other fish in our tanks will peck away at the net to try and get at the babies (which ended up with the babies too stressed and most dying!). we've gone back to the plastic seperators for our babies that we keep in same tank with parents. Other than that we put bubs in seperate tank. Hth :D Btw...very jealus, gorgeous fish (wish ours would breed!)

Yeah, we have about 12 bumblebees now, bought from hollywoods in aux and antics in tauranga (sori that doesnt help for the chch guy) but we are keen to know if there are any other types available that we can chuck in with the bumbles in our new brackish tank?
  13. Haha cheers. I think he was actually quite pleased as they are really 'his' fish 8)
  14. Hi guys, new to the site. Me (nico) and my partner (jason) have been hit by the fishy bug and have met quite a few likewise people around tauranga! Got lots to talk about fish (as Im sure we all do!) but am slightly shocked at what happened with our cichlid tank when Jas went overseas for 3 weeks. He usually does all the feedings and about 3 days after he left, and for the 3 weeks he was away, the cichlids kept to themselves, hiding and not trying to jump into my hand to be fed like they used to. Was slightly worried but none died so waited to ask Jas when he got back....Lo and behold about 2 days after he got back they were completely back to normal, bright, happy and following us around the room!! Surely they dont favour people??!! Anyone else encountered this? NOT FAIR!
