  1. surely you would have the same chance of winning as there are the same number of combinations as every other week, you would however have more chance of sharing the money with someone else I guess...maybe I am wrong though as Maths wasn't never my best subject. Whatever though I got caught up in lottery fever, bought a ticket even though i normally don't bother and ended up $11 poorer for the pleasure! The dream was nice while it lasted though
  2. Now I didn't know that, I will have to remember that one  When I am stressed I like to turn my music up and sing along at the top of my voice! Thank goodness for detached houses and a husband on late shifts
  3. That sucks, I hope they find them quickly. I love lizards, although the couple of times we have been to the zoo I have wondered whether they actually have any as they always seem to be hiding!
  4. I wish I could get photo's of mine, the little blighters won't stay put long enough for me to snap them though just end up with some very pretty looking blurs!
  5. we have some dwarf neon rainbows and they are lovely, really actuve and pretty to look at and so funny when it comes to feeding time as they nip in and out of the other fish stealing all the food!
  6. we dont' have plecos in our tank so maybe they are muckier than our fish. We have a gourami, some neon tetras, a couple of dwarf chain loachs and a couple of danios.
  7. we left our tank for a month and it was ok, we had to do regular water changes when we got back for a couple of weeks but things didn't go too haywire. I think as long as you make sure that everything is in tip top condition before you go you would be fine if you can't find anyone to help.
  8. most of the plants in our main tank do ok but there is one corner by the heater which they just don't do very well at all and I am wondering whether it is the heater killing them? We've tried a few different plants there (not sure of names) and they all die. Thinking about sticking an artifical one in this corner (the rest would be real). Does anyone have any thoughts that might help us avoid this though as I like real plants much more.
  9. umm might try that, I have a few shells around with nothing to do as I like picking them up at the beach (much to my husbands amusement!), I guess it will give the fish something interesting to look at as well!
  10. We have a Nikon coolpix P1 (I think!) and we just recently bought a housing for it for when we go sea kayaking down in Fiordland, hubby loves snorkling though so he will no doubt try it out doing that at some point as well. I think our housing cost about $250 in the end (got it from US). We wanted to get a housing for our Canon DSLR but that was going to be a stupid price plus I'd cry if the camera got damaged! You can buy camera dry bags which are designed to take in the water which are cheaper but I'm not sure what depth you can take them too.
  11. we tested the tap water last night and came out at a pH of 7. The tank water dopes slowly seem to be going back to normal, now at 5.75 thanks to every other day water changes, fingers crossed it keeps heading in the right direction. Still have no idea what could have caused the drop though which is a pain as then I don't know what to do to stop it happening again :-?
  12. We haven't tested it recently, I'll do that tomorrow when we get back from the rugby just to make sure its not gone funny. Mind you we have two other tanks and the pH in them are fine so it makes me thik it is something in the tank rather than the water we are putting in.
  13. The tank is a 60l one, I'm not sure of the filter, its one of the ones that hang of the back with the inlet in the tank, we are pretty good with our filter maintainance though, cleaning one half one month and then leaving it for a month or so before cleaning the other half so we don't wipe out all the bacteria in one go. I know we aren't perfect with our regime but it has worked up till now and we haven't changed anything we do to suddenly cause a change and prior to the last week the pH has always been 7-7.5.
  14. Can anyone offer any suggestions, done another test today and now at 5.5 so slightly better but still not good. The other two tanks are fine so really think it has to be something going on in this particular tank. :-?
