  1. if you hose them you risk snapping the dog's penis-bone :o
Do they have a bone :o When they use to tell you to do that.Bitches could not be spade till they were six months.Dogs would jump your fence and lock with your dog as rangers back then did not round up strays. It was a bit like put sugar on a turtles penis it would cause them to retract.Or shock would.
  2. :D

I have a red ear slider turtle called Crush. She is a Trade Me purchase and is amazing. The people I bought her off were great - helped me with the tank set up and gave me lots of advice.

I also breed Samoyed dogs (you know, fluffy, white, husky types) and NO YOU DO NOT HOSE DOGS TO SEPARATE THEM WHEN THEY ARE MATING!!!!! We have 7 dogs, 5 cats, chickens, Kune Kune pigs (2 girls), a donkey jenny and 2 Alpacas.

I had a turtle as a kid and swore I would get another one when I was older (didn't think I'd be this old!).

I show some of my dogs (some are getting older) and we recently bred a gorgeous girl from frozen semen from Scotland.

Am also involved in running Ruapuna Speedway and in the TQ class.

Also a staunch Canterbury supporter (rugby) despite being born in Auckland!

Welcome to the forum Things my have changed. But thats what vets would tell you to do a long time ago.And it worked.

  3. Last time i had one in my house.I screamed for my son to help.Fat chance of him helping. He does not like them either. We let the poor dog at it.The horrible thing latched on to her lip.I will be armed with a tennis racket this time.

  4. ignore my last post

just lookin a wiki and seems the huhu beetle is edible but im sure these have nippers as they were flying in here around last xmas, - i cut nippers off and fed to beardies lol wikipedia had this to say "They are edible, and are said by some to taste like buttery chicken (although opinions differ)" so should be swt its just the nippers that look nasty, im sure ive seen someone say they give a mean bite to.

did you taste test it

Your right you can eat them in the grub stage. No a bad taste, not some thing i would get into.I would have to be real hungry. When i see them in the beatle stage i run.

  5. Will i got brave and got the huge net and caught it,then fed it to my frogs.Who loved it.Its those big Beatles i really hate with big prickles on their legs. Some one told my they bite.and they are so hard to kill.Hate them they send me running around screaming.

  6. My female turtle is dropping eggs in her tank and chomping them before i can get the eggs out.And its making a mess in her tank. When shes finished laying all her clutch. Will she stop for awhile or will she keep shooting the out over summer.Im having to do daily water changes at the moment as the eggs make a mess.

  7. What is the name of the iodine spray,as there is many types. The one that was sold to me months back was to strong and the fumes were strong. That was called vetadin and i was told it would be okay for the turtles.I kept it for my dog instead, and rang and told them it was unsuitable for turtles. That was my opinion.

  8. These fish require regular water changes,to keep them healthy.I was doing water changes every three days. They were thriving and i had no problems with them. But i slipped up for a month and was only doing once a week. Will i had problems after that gouramis dying looking sick and was not able to get on top of it again. They require looking after like discus imo to keep them healthy. They are not a fish i would recommend for some one starting out or to busy to .keep it up.

  9. The same nothing  Ive lost interest so mitzy will be getting them soon. She will give them a go.I think she intends to get some more females. But im so pleased for you.I know you have been wanting this to happen for a while.Next we will hear you complaining that you are over run with them

  10. Water quality is very important for turtles as they deposit alot of wast.Poor quality water can lead to fungus, infections and can make your turtle very sick. Then you can face very expensive vet bills. They depend on you, just like fish for their care.
