  1. So a high CO2 planted tank at 26 is a no go then?

I wonder how MAF would react if I sent them an email asking why they won't let me have shrimp. I might send them one, just can't be bothered right now, it'd look all informal and misspelt.

Keeping in mind that MAF regularly troll this, and other local forums, they no doubt have already read your post.

  2. you keep repeating yourself alanmin.. we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Violence is uncontrolled and turbulent and unrelenting till the fury has exhausted.

    In Your Opinion BikBok.

A whole lot of people in the world state that very same opinion when shooting a gun.

    It is controlled therefore alright.

    You keep repeating yourself also.

    Violence is violence.

And you will keep on repeating yourself justifying a violent act because you accept that this form of violence is acceptable and needed.

  3. And neglected pools!

How about an indoor tropical pond? If I made a box out of 2x4's and ply and sat a preformed pond/paddling pool in there would that work?

If you have not already got the timber, then 100x100mm is often cheaper than 2"x4" fyi.

Plus would be a stronger frame.

  4. I think people who misquote the bible or any other moralistic document for their own cause are very misguided and manipulative.

I think using an act of violence, albeit a 'mild' act, as a form of discipline is wrong.

We have laws against ANY form of assault that all adults are held to.

Hitting the small and vulnerable kids is wrong imo.

Like some one mentioned: the military hold their members to the highest form of discipline and they don't beat their trainees every time they step out of line, they discipline them.

IMHO resorting to violence shows up a lack of parenting skills rather than proving you are a good parent.

Hitting = Violence no matter what name you plaster on the act itself.

And I am in no way talking of abuses suffered by poor innocent children.

  5. dragons quite happily leap to the top of the ply

Then they would be equally happy to jump to the top of the over hang, and when you are NOT there to offer a hand, they WILL go exploring.

I think it is a very expensive experiment in the making.

Totally cover the whole pen, or put up mesh floor to ceiling all the way around, then you can still enjoy the deck.

  6. that is true but they also protect their young so something is ticking in there

I totally agree something is ticking inside, and the Cayman are a great example of adoption caring in a community.

But that dude is a walking meat stick around the croc..

He won't get a second chance on the day the croc is hungry.

  7. no that is the real deal

just like playing with a tame tiger

just goes to show that a croc is not entirely a killing machine running on primordial instincts

That may be true but don't reptiles have the least developed brains as they are such ancient creatures?

Instinct is the leading force in their lives?

Instinct = food first, mating second, and don't get in the way.
