  1. hey all... due to the re-laying of floors etc we have delayed the tank getting up here. Precision freight are shipping it up next friday.

Woo hoo..very excited and a little nervous.. must get the panels on the walls finished before it arrives or I dont think I will ever finish our foyer.

So I guess I will be on the hunt for new fish by the new year, once I have things up and stable like.

  2. yes out in the open. Top front righthand corner of the glass beside the thermometer. :-? Might have tried to lay near the driftwood but mr bling the pleco is living there and the sae took over the pipe so I guess the corners were the last option?

I have 3 very concerned children that want me to put a divider in the tank to protect them but the one I have is too small so might have to go for a wee visit down to pet store for a larger one.

  3. My 2 bn which I thought were still too young to be spawning just spawned in the top corner of the community tank. Looks like they quite liked the new filter. Its got quite a bit more of a current going.

    Anyway. What do I do?

I have a bully of a pleco who I suspect will chomp on the wee eggs/fry given half a chance. Some neons and glowlights and 2 sae.

Can I move dad and the eggs into a breeding tank successfully? How do I get the eggs off the glass without damaging them and what do I stick them on in the breeding tank if anything?

Or do I just leave dad to his own devises until the eggs hatch and then try to separate them?

  4. Hey all,

Haven't been on the site for months due to computer death and renovations but am back online finally and in need of some advice.

My mum who lives in Wainuiomata, Wellington has kindly gifted me her old tank setup. I live in Pukekohe.

It is approx 1.4mt long and 70cm high and 60cm deep, comes with large stand, cover and pumps, lights etc. The measurements are only a guess right now until she goes out into the cold garage with a tape measure. lol

    So heres the question.

Who can transport tanks and stand safely? Is there a trucking firm who specializes in tanks or something and any idea how much I should expect to pay for this?

    Thanks all.

  6. now feeling very envious. sigh. Great tanks guys, but I have a newbie type question. I have ambulia in both my tanks as it was very easy to grow (and lfs said it was THE plant to get) Yet I don't see any in your tanks. Do you not like it? I don't like mine and am looking for an alternitive (moss wall here I come) as I cant seem to keep it looking nice and green, its constantly growing brown algae on it. Non of my other plants have it so I have put it down to new lights being a bit too strong for it. and now that I have gone completely off topic I will go.

    Great tanks all.

  7. knowing I could get shot for this... but I think the price is a little steep as we just got a quote for a slightly larger tank than that for around $120. But I suppose it depends on whether or not you mind paying that much for it. If you dont then its a good package.

  8. they are due to be free swimming fry tomorrow so I may try 50% water changes in the meantime and see what develops. The spill was on the fry side of the tank and not too much has travelled through the perspex divider so I may be lucky with the eggs/free swimmers
