  1. I use childs sandpit sand from Mitre 10. Still needs a wash first and it does compact down so occasionally you have to run a big comb or suchlike through it to ensure any gases are released to stop them building up to toxic levels. (so i'm led to believe from reading the internet) It looks great in a corner quarter of the tank against riverstones for the rest. Keeping convicts in that one, started with 2, now two fine large parents and about 60 happily surviving fry. PS Want to get rid of the convicts to try an African Ciclid tank. message me if your interested, pick up only.
  2. Well tanks for the replys. I'll give it a couple of days to see if he surfaces, then off to Pupuke aquarium i guess to get a replacement.
  3. Must say, they had both coloured up quite nicely over the last week, especially the male. That's why i'm missing him I guess.
  4. Yes, but in the past i've lost a couple of Gouramis and rasboras and they were eaten or nibbled but not all gone. Maybe they are flying foxes not SAE's? Can't remember which one as they all looked the same to me at the time.
  5. I'm hoping he may have dug a cave, gravel is about 4" deep at the back and some large driftwood that make little caves in places. Fish are: 10 Neons 8 Rummy Noses 5 Pearl Gourami's (males won't make buble nests anymore, but used to) 2 Siamese Alge eaters, about 15cm long now 2 sucker fish (Small) 6 Diamond Tetras 1 med - large Angel 4 Rasboras ...& 1 or 2 Kribensis Nothing there that would take on the Kribensis except maybe the Angel, and it's been very peaceful the whole time.
  6. I've lost the male Kribensis. Tuesday they were both there, yesterday only the female. Searched everywhere amongst the plants as was tiding them up last night and not a trace of him, or part of him. Too big to be eaten by anything else in there except maybe a medium Angel, but even then there would be a lot of him left and just no sign. Was wondering if he may be guarding some eggs, but thought the female did that. Only other thought was the end of the inlet pipe for the pump was off. Maybe he got sucked up, but still a bit big to fit and its still pumping anyway. like to know if he may just be hiding or if i'm going to need another. Was colouring up real nice too. (1500x600x600 planted tank so places to hide, but usually hes out at feeding time)
