  1. off the top of my head it is a 20-25L tank can get accurate dim's when i get home ... i want my 4ft back &c:ry
  2. well tank is coming along quite nicely now few new plants so the back of the tank is filling in 2 female guppies 1 male 3 minows 2 zebra longfin danios 1 leapod long long fin danio 1 small common bristlenose think the danios picked on one a few of the fish and stressed them ... getting the 3rd danio has shared the agression a bit now any other little things i can add that might liven the tank up a bit?
  3. oooo now you are really making me want to set up my 4ft tank just like i used to have it looking forward to the progress photos ... guess i have to wait till i buy myself a house before i can set it up :tears: Nice Pitts by the way
  4. :tears: always happens to the best looking one in the tank :an!gry managed to get the majority out and she was swimming with a bit of a buoyancy issue (expected with that much of a change) Fry weren't moving so still under developed. kinda glad i did it now as she would have gotten HUGE and been even more 'discomforted' moved the light in the far corner of the tank so she could have a bit of piece in the weeds in the other end but didn't workout guess some of my guppies just have a high sperm count
  5. I'm going in. cant do more damage then what it is causing now :-?
  6. Dare i try a bit of DIY surgery ??? not getting any better :-?
  7. there are 5-6 fry swimming about but they are a few days old
  8. i swear i can see eyes but i can also see a few scales lifting on her belly getting bigger quickly just done a 15-20% water change after adding tonic 3days ago. thinking about doing another again tonight your thoughts ...
  9. getting there. few more plant added and 3L changed out
  10. it was wet but not much water. i will post if all turns titsup and you can all :rotf: and say 'i told you so' will try get an update pic tonight but photobucket was being an arse last time i was on
  11. been doing a few L water change each night and going to give the filter a bit of a check up soon to much sure to much new tank stuff isnt starting to fill it up some times being over carefull is just as bad as being under carefull you know
  12. yes the filter was from my tank in auckland which had been running for AGES so should be fine (assuming what u mean by pre-seeded?)
  13. im in 2 minds about getting more / less danio's 1 in particular is rather chassy sepecially towards my snakeshin yellow black male guppie (who i wouldnt mind getting babies off) caused him to sheepishly sit in a corner and not feeding like the others. started getting little red marks of the end of his tail (dosed with the blue stuff whch has helped)
  14. Added a few extra's last night, now have 2 longfined danio's (getting quite fat and still eating heaps) 3 female guppies 2 male guppies (1 is starting to be a very shy, think the danio is peeing him off) 1 small comman brisslenose 1 peppered cory 5 mountain minnows will let eveything settle now and let the plants grow a bit
  15. yes glue ... dnt worry. it was dry before it went in the tank. yes i have done it before in other tanks and never had a problem
  16. Well my little piece of drift wood is now in on the bottom of the tank after glueing on a few rocks to the bottom ... once that settles in and a bit of alge growth arrives i think its will be time for a small pleco anyone got any nice female guppies in the new plymouth area (will pick up) the stores ive been to either have none or an average selection Cheers
  17. that's why im after runted discus will bring my 4ft tank down south at some stage in the future
  18. well since i have been out of the fish game for a few years and a few house moves i have had 2 leave the 4ft tank at my parents and start up a little tropical tank down here in the naki Nothing Special at this stage. Just remembering the basics. waiting for my driftwood to 'de-salt' after finding it today cant wait for the plants to bulk up a bit yes i know my heater is massive (250W) but it was the only one i had so far 1x Cory 2x Male Guppies added today (got to get my hands on a nice female now) 2x long finned Danio's 5x mountain minnows wanting a little pleco next wouldn't mind a couple of runted discus (anybody have any?) Cheers Lewis
  19. Cant say i have been on here for many years. have left my 4ft tank empty at my parents and have just started a small 40L ish tank in the bedroom dam flatmate doesnt like the idea of 300L of water in his lounge. guess i wil have to wait untill i get my own house currently have 5 mountain minnows getting the tank started is there anyone in the naki who i can pinch small bits of little plants from to grow up? the stores dnt have much of a collection im also looking at getting 2 runted/dwarffed discus if anyone have any that are being picked on in their tank and want to get rid of them (name your price) so HI again. been good looking through all the pics on here again and getting ideas Cheers Lewis
  20. GUESS WHOS GETTING AN UPGRADE!!! Ive finally figured out that i have do sell one of my tanks (need $ for my boat) so what did i decide ... well everyone knows bigger is better so the little tank seen above is outta here. but i like my brichardi and they bring in a little cash when some of the babies leave so there gonna be staying right here ... except they get a flash new home to play in Heres the transformation so far .... THE PAST ... AND THE PRESENT ... Have only transfered over about 1/4 of the coral balls and only one piece of coral rock so far ... as theres a tonne of tiny fry in the origonal tank that i dont want to disturb to much at the moment Just to note ... the tank + stand + lighthood + heater + filter + (normal) gravel. (As seen at the beginning of this thread) will be up for sale on here as soon as i transfer the fish over ... if interested now please email me at [email protected] but it shouldnt be to long untill its up officially Cheers all
  21. as said in my title ... i just did a 90L water change in my 250-300L com tank which is a lot more then i usualy do and just noticed that all my plants are covered in very small bubbles an hour or so after completion should i be worried? cheers for comments cherri O Lewis
  22. And heres the final design for the sump each of the clear rectangles represents a perspex sheet with loads of holes in it ... these sheets are resting on the black brackets which will be a square of perspex in each corner ... this makes the different sections repovable for cleaning etc .... the water enters in the top right and 'showers' down over the 1st section which will be for bio balls, this will give a wet/dry reaction after that section the next few sections will be full of carbon, and ceramic media, as found in normal canisters. when the water the bottom area will be open the middle section will be filled with filter wool and the section above that im going try using scoria gravel (cheap with loads of surface area) so the water will rise up through these 2 layers next is the bubble trap (mainly here so i can change it over 2 marine easier in the future. and finally the pump out what do you all think??? Any comments welcome both good and bad (as long as there constructive and give a resolution to the problem)
  23. brought me a 2nd hand tank the other day from a guy down the road, 605Long 300wide and 394high, sitting beside my main tank with a couple of inches of water in it 2 keep seals moist.... the sump is slooooooowly taking shape and plans have been drawn  will post them later when im not so tired
