[Brownish water]

AHHH...yes i do have a large bit of wood that hadn't been in a tank for some time...and filter wool does collect alot of brownish material in one week...cheers

In my large tank the water is a brownish....its been like this since i set it up. I used store brought bacteria in the bottle and followed the instructions and first put tetras in the tank before big fish. I have tried using accuclear twice, 2nd dose 24hrs later. Im running a eheim 2213 filter. I have some algae rid from petmaster here but dont know how old it is. All my water perameters are fine.

What could be causing it? dirty substrate? i vac it every week. Tanks been set up for about 2mths

I have been told that they will not eat java fern....what other plants dont they like to eat? Riccia? I also have convicts, an oscar and a pleco who all love plants.

I have some vallisneria coming and will see if they eat it

I have convicts and a oscar with with my knife fish and the oscar doesnt even worry it, they eat together

Well i have a huge pleco, oscar and knife fish and they are dam messy. I do a 30% water change every week(vac all the water out with the poos). Was thinking of using a under gravel filter. Next tank i have will have one built into the bottom and make it so i can suck from under the substrate.

they had some brackish spotted puffers in wet pets but sold 2 while i was there & only 1 left now.

Im after freshwater ones, and im looking for at least 2 so i can try and breed and supply the comunity

i think thats them all- all the puffers which can be imported. to import you must have a liscence.

Figure eight pufferfish get to about 8cm and look better than the dwarfs IMO. I plan on using my 90l tank to start off with so i need smallish puffers. I have emaild Redwood them to see what the prices would be(if they can get them)

They are closed, but i talked to them ...they have none in stock...they could be able to get them in but said that i had to check with MAF about what they can bring in. I was thinking about 4/5 dwarf puffers in a 90L tank so i could breed a few and get the numbers up. Am i able to import them myself? if so where is a good place to try?

try ringing redwood aquatics in chch, it may be a fair way to get them shipped, but i actually think they got sum puffers in their last shipment

try a bichir they get to about 30 cm

Yeh i saw one on trademe not long ago, might get some more ghost knife fish and breed them as it doesnt look like i will be getting any puffers. I might put a fire eel in my 370L tank and put the kife's in the 90L with a few bichir's...hrm any other fascinating fish out there?

Im having some trouble finding some fresh water puffers. Wouldnt mind if they where dwarfs as then i could breed them(if im lucky) and supply other people in nz and get the numbers up. Any one know of any shops with and puffer fish. Iv tried Hollywood fish farms but they cant get them.
