How about 'Always' for us Oscar owners?
  2. I wouldn't imagine that you need to go to the extreme of polyurethane. Just undercoat it twice and paint it twice with a water based paint. And make sure it dries for at least 3 weeks. Water won't penetrate it.
  3. Welcome to Hamilton. Dave is one of the members of the Waikato Aquarium Society, he can give you details if you want to join up. Also, pop into 'Gold Fish Bowl Aquariums' They are by FAR the best in Hamilton. Its on Heaphy Terrace.
  4. Basically I'm not. I shall rename it 'The Glass Coffin'
  5. Here is the nearly finished product. All I need to do now is organise the lids. This sucker ain't gonna go anywhere. Course now the stand COULD break because of all the extra glass that has been added.
  6. Here is the design that is going to go ahead. The front bits (2.5m long)are 100mm wide. All in 10mm glass. Except the bits underneat that are going to support to lids, which looks like this... Heres what it looks like so far...
  7. I was just thinking about it. Sounds too high maintenance for me anyway.
  8. I have been toying with the idea of a saltwater tank for the lounge. It would only be a 75L tank. I don't know much about them and was wondering if any of you could fill me in a bit: - I have heard they are more expensive than freshwater, is it true, and on such a small tank would it really be THAT much more expensive? - How easy/hard are saltwater fish to keep? - Do you have to clean them as often as freshwater? - Do I need any special equipment. - What sort of fish could I keep in such a small tank? Cold water and warm.
  9. GOOD NEWS!! The Pacu from the tank I clean has gone. Dunno where, but as least its gone. The threats must have done their job.
  10. Once digitalpose has untied its knickers I'll post the diagram of what it is going to be like.
  11. I've only ever had Fluvals, and the 404 is much better then the 304. It is a dream to prime and certainly gets the water moving. Lots of people rave about Eheims but I'm happy with my Fluvals.
