  2. hi dogmatix, thank you for that, but I got the 400 w light already and would have to buy any other lights that is why I asked reef the shade is huge, 900 l and arround 600 wide, what do you think http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w241/batz_2007/th_lampshade.jpg
  3. Hi to you all, I need some advice on MH lights please. I am setting a new tank up which will be a planted tank. It is 900x385x390 I just got given a 400w MH light. It has a huge shade and is a MH conversion light hanging on chains from the ceiling, the sort used for plant growing. I know that 400w is very high for the tank and never having had any experience with this sort of lights I am not too sure if it would do more harm than good. Any advice is much appreciated Thank you
  4. Reading all of this is very interesting as I just looked into this subject myself. From the information I got it seems to be not too difficult to get fish into NZ, the difficult part is once the fish arrive here. After talking to a very helpful person from MAF for quite a while on the phone this is the information I got: As long as the species you want to get is on the allowed list all it takes is a licence to import which costs $150. You need to list all the species you want to bring in and can have multiple species on the licence which is valid for 12 months. The hard part is the quarantine and finding a facility which is doing that, this is the part where I got stuck. Another thing I am unsure of is the documentation which has to accompany the shipment, I don’t know if this is a standard with a shipment or if this costs extra.
  5. Hi, After keeping fish on and off for several years the bug bit me again. The set up I have at the moment is a 250lt community tank and a 60lt tank in which I am successfully breeding dwarf gouramis. Over the past couple of weeks I visited this forum regularly, what a great resource of information. Looking forward reading and learning a lot more in the forums and sharing my successes and failures.
